1) Practical: The baby monitor is very convenient. One need only two outlets: one at the baby and in their own vicinity. The baby monitor connects within seconds and displays it with a green LED on the parent. If the contact does not exist or if you lose, then flashes the parent and beeps.
2) sensitivity: Although you can adjust anything, the baby monitor transmits reliably Shouting, Scolding or wines of our 3.5 month baby immediately. So I can usually still quick to rush baby to calm it before it screams really loud. It seems to have a software that brief volume changes well identified and transmits to the parent. So it does not transfer such as our dishwasher, as this obviously creates a to constant noise. The short cries of the baby will be transferred, however, although they are quieter than the dishwasher in comparison.
3) Range: For home and apartment use sufficient. Within our apartment (one floor, max. Three walls, max. 10m) we had in spite of many potential sources of interference such as 8 WLANs and several DECT radio networks (fixed-mobile-phones) and daily use so far not a single disconnection.
4) Extreme test: We have already taken to a celebration the baby monitor. There has in an office building (div. WLANs DECT, Wireless Micro, min. 20 mobile phones) with massive brick walls by 5 (office) room, 2 toilets and a large kitchen through a distance of about 40 meters still works , Here, however, you had to watch the parent a bit because the contact plan about every 60 minutes (then flashes green and beeps). Then we just had to take a short from the power supply and plug it in again, the new parent. Then the contact was back. Presumably the other radio networks and the long distance in the long run were a little too much.
UPDATE I:
(Daily after 8 months use)
a) The baby monitor is still working properly. In very rare cases the baby monitor with a small delay responding (about 5 seconds).
b) to destroy Several attempts of our child, the baby monitor by intensive wet "tasting" (much drool!) or throwing, were unsuccessful.
c) Many external missions and vacations konntem the baby monitor also not harm.
UPDATE II:
(After 13 months)
After 13 months of daily use (12 hours each), the baby monitor is still working properly. The baby monitor can be operated with the way 100-240 volts. Accordingly, it can also be used in most holiday destinations. Meanwhile, our (meanwhile, robust and very active) Kita-child has the baby monitor further "physical test" subjected. Unfortunately, I am also stepped on the baby monitor before. Here, an "arm" of the connector is slightly bent. But I was able to turn him back.
UPDATE III:
(After 21 months)
The baby monitor belongs somehow to the family. It is also durable in daily use. Our now almost 2-year-old child has lost interest in the baby monitor; the baby monitor is therefore now faced only with the rarer unintended gravity experiments the parents. So far, continues to be successful. In 4 months we expect further offspring. The endurance test of the baby monitor is continued accordingly with our new family member on! I will report. At some point there has to go once broken ...?
UPDATE IV:
(After 31 months; 8/2014)
Meanwhile, our second child was born (6 months old). Also for the second coming, we have bought us such a baby monitor. Accordingly, we use parallel for half a year, two of these baby monitors. NOTE: As with our two children there are sometimes even with the two baby monitors armed when they come to permanently close. Specifically: If we're both receiving parts (parents) into a power strip along side by side, sometimes falls from the receipt of the baby monitor. However, once we use different sockets in the room and the two receiving parts thereby spatially separate something, everything is OK Otherwise, the permanent parallel operation is not critical. Every parent transfers behaved just the sounds of the baby each part. Cross transmissions / transmission errors from the other part there is no baby. But this is then also clear that you have to have a good overview, which pair of parent / baby unit is just in your hand. Since the two system same externally, we have a couple with a waterproof pen "embellished" something artistic.
In some family celebrations the baby monitors have now demonstrated that they can overcome long distances safely and in double (30 guests [with cell phones]; Hotel with WLAN; DJ with radio microphone; Baby part of both children [in two hotel rooms] with two floors and about 20 meters straight line distance from the TV tuner).
