The fact is that there are only quasi followers of a particular phase in music. Or at least mainly.
Suppose we have a band that released ten albums hat.Dazu come three "fans". Person "A" a "Fan of the first hour," person "B" a career changer in album no. Five and "C" a freshman (last two to max. Three albums). In an interview is Person "A", the first three albums genial, middle ok and find the last bad. Person "B" is the average genial and find the previous and subsequent "ok". Person "C" is the last "OK" and the least favored old "awesome", the middle.
Also interesting is the phenomenon that person "A" in a further 10 albums of the band the "new" middle suddenly much higher than at the beginning of the evaluation locates. Now this medium are "OK" and the "new" new poor.
Conclusion: People are "creatures of habit" and can develop the most difficult to follow and understand. If at all, then a time delay.
I have not studied scientifically, but that's my impression.
So, now, but the new FF "slice". That said above is the basis for the following statement: Of course, some of the old fans are disappointed. Were it not for the eternal comparison with yesterday, so also the last phone from would "Nörgelecke" come and take "Sonic Highways" than what it is: A pound of honest rock music, which is influenced by the life experiences of its creator and so sounds as "in the now" lives.
So, prejudices, media hype, TV shows etc. banished from the head. More disturbing influences such as roommates (Beyonce- fan, etc.) into holiday sent, the plant turned up properly (so that the neighbors in the house across from time to nervously look out the window) and there you go ......... ..........
"Something From Nothing" spans the slow. It starts with a beautiful melody and very relaxed. Then begins the Groove. All very worn and melancholisch.Jetzt it becomes increasingly groovy. After a half minutes then nice funky and even stronger. The accelerator pedal is depressed more and more. In just under 3 minutes to open on drums, the hi-hat and the guitar pedals of distortion button is pressed. It goes towards climax. Until the end of the song with just under five minutes rocked unleashes all it's worth. Here at the end of pure energy and ferocity. One of the hallmarks of the beautiful FF.
Flott begins "The feast and the famine" to after a short while in one of the other reviewers already mentioned, "punky" to swing gait. Short Breaks give the song something extra crunchy. The Power is here clearly in the foreground.
"Congregation" is then the melodic catchy hearty, passionate vocal harmonies in the chorus. Interspersed with breaks and the typical rough vocals. In addition an absolutely rocking feel good pace. In the middle section there is still an interesting interlude that starts quietly and increases in the famous wildness. Rocks like the song PIG.
"What did I do? / God as my witness" is the energy level a bit to settle below. A bit slower, very melodic (much harmony vocals) but still rocking distorted affects this song sometimes quite bloused. A nice idea is the existing at the beginning and in the middle break. There are dynamic and thematically here a dichotomy (See Song name), the song in the course is quite anthemic. Somewhat inconsistently the hasty "fadeout" in the end.
"Outside" is a verse in the very relaxed-melodic standard rocker, who every now and then something ride takes to again hit by a very "meditative" intermediate part a little towards the motorway and then to end again. The last bit of energy is not ascended.
"In the clear" sets as its two predecessors rather than melody on energy. Orchestral elements (wind) and "Oho-oho" singing from 3 minutes rather untypical for the FF and a case of "self-involved-it-rounder".
"Subterranean" then goes one step further in the direction of melody and get out of "power corner". We hear strings and slow accompaniment. A vocal guide almost like the Beatles in their creative phase (yes, blasphemy !!!) whispers the song through the boxes and you feel like in a bygone era. Bring a lot of courage to befriending, then it's really nice.
After the album of song has become calmer and more relaxed song, now the finale is also added: "I am a River" starts with guitar strings and quiet ...... then it is a bit faster and the singing begins. Very passionate-worn. Super melody. Top !!! Then comes a relaxed groove and the song gains momentum. There it is again increasing, the already constituted the first song. It gets louder and louder. At 3 minutes, the song stomps beastly and insane passionate Refain blossomed. From 4 minutes vocals rough and the sound becomes ever wider. Madness. The refrain is repeated to excess. The song is pumping, pumping. Then a break. And again the chorus. This time, strings are added. Uff !!! There is increased and increased until the furious finale, in which only band and orchestra blow up the universe. at 7 minutes, the sudden end. Wow. What a song. What that the dynamic course of a ski jumping hill has a bouncer an album.
Whether one likes it or not the whole thing. The FF have created an album that is both their typical trademarks as well as new elements in excellent scene. I think with a little acclimatization and time will know "one" to appreciate the quiet middle part. The melodies have quite "what on his heels." The towering up closing song is a hit.
The songs are also worked out nicely spacious and blow up six and seven minutes limits.
The album is gut.Vergessen Let's trends, commerce, Tv, prejudices. Hear "Sonic Highways" loud and let it rip.
Objectification failed ...... it's awesome !!!!
