The marching compass I bought on 28.01.09 for my 9-year-old daughter. At school, the cardinal points were taken and so I have a compass wanted to try it. " I am pleasantly surprised by the quality. The compass is highly accurate and easy to use. One gets a sense of the cardinal points and (we were several times in the forest) a sense to orient themselves (eg where is the car?). The Hiking Compass is very inexpensive, but extremely well made. It is made of sturdy metal injection molding in combination with plastic. It is equipped with a lanyard and unfolded with a ruler or scale for topographic maps. The needle is oil-damped. An instruction manual is included, but is sparse and written something incomprehensible (for the beginner). We have compared the marching compass with the electronic compass of the Garmin Oregon. The mechanical "Marching Compass is faster and just as accurate. In addition, the right is" compass needle just children a better orientation sense.
Highly recommended!
Conclusion: ++ Very precise ++ Very well made ++ Excellent value for money - Poor manual
Note: Accurate display of the compass is only possible outdoors. Reinforced concrete affects the display. So please do not scold the same when the sun no longer rises in the east.
