Here is a novel half-fiction, half-story that chronicles the life of a Czech doctor in the twentieth century. That's life and the journey of Joseph Kaplan that we discover through this novel. A doctor then, that will cross countries and continents to practice medicine there and do complicated research. But its origins and especially its Jewish roots will bring him many annoyances. So he fled his country of origin, finds himself to finish his studies in Paris and then became head of Algiers where he worked for the Pasteur Institute. But at the beginning of World War II, he warned of ongoing raids in Algiers by its Director, who also helps him to hide. After several years of solitude, he rediscovers leisure freedom but was again forced to leave, and returned to live with his wife in Czechoslovakia. And in a country ravaged by totalitarianism and living under the yoke of its Russian neighbor that Dr. Kaplan will be forced to take in his sanatorium to transfer a patient and others in the surrounding hospitals.
