A record deal was still not long in coming - even 2012, she graduated from a. But Ella Henderson's first album should be no rush job, but a well-produced, high-quality work. So took Ella and her team over a year time, before in June 2014 finally the debut single "Ghost" was published - and immediately conquered the top chart in the UK. In many other prolong the song became a success, for example in Germany, where it reached the Top 3 on the charts and Ella slowly but surely ever known made and still makes.
Now the time has come and the debut album with the quite simply entitled "Chapter One" is in the starting blocks. Thanks to the pre-order on Amazon, the CD even came one day before the official release at my house at ... :)
Now that I have heard the album a few times I'm really overwhelmed. There is truly no average pop record but an absolute masterpiece. Pop music with an edge that seems to get better with each listen What was started with "Ghost" namely that continues seamlessly on "Chapter One". All 18 songs expected the handset on the deluxe edition. The majority of them are ballads or ballad like songs, of course, not missing a few pieces faster.
Probably the greatest thing about this CD is unequivocally Ella itself, which, with her incredible voice every song into an experience. Not once was given away, every song and every line gives Ella such an expression, of such importance that it will simply fall under the spell of the music from beginning to end.
Very characteristic of many songs is the "hand strength". It is little to not at all to electronic beats (like now is a common practice in today's popular music), but for example on piano ballads (eg "Lay Down" and "Missed") or on powerful drums that stand out repeatedly ( eg "Give Your Heart Away" or "First Time"). This gives the sound of "Chapter One" a certain lack of restraint, many rough edges, which lift the album very clear from the watered-mainstream pop. The music is generally not necessarily the first hearing on directly into the ear, but develops slowly and is from time to time better.
My favorite song is from the first impressions forth by the way Lay Down, one of the aforementioned piano ballads that Ella Henderson sings with such emotion that you inevitably get a crazy goose bumps and simply sink only in the music wants.
All in all, Ella Henderson has here probably laid Album of the Year. So good pop music should sound. If you liked Ghost and generally is a fan of Ella's voice, who can not do anything with Chapter One dead wrong! Almost needless to say that it of course gives it five stars. :)
