I ordered the notebook because it is cheap and has demanded of me power. I run the notebook with Windows XP and can therefore only report of this operating system. The optics, as in Acer usual, very discreet and chic. The drivers for the devices can be installed all have problems. The touchpad makes a very solid impression and is easy to operate. The notebook will work primarily for "normal" use and there is sufficient modem speed the fine. In operation, the Acer is not heard, neither when working on the hard drive nor the CPU fan. Who needs a simple, inexpensive and solid notebook, which I can only recommend the Acer Travelmate 5742Z.
