Wanting to read Dune (after reading it 25 years ago), following the viewing of the documentary on Dune Jodorowsky, I have acquired the 6 volumes of undergraduate Dune (in order to have an edition with uniform covers). The latest Pocket editions with their matte coverage are more pleasant to hold in hand than the old, and the pages do not tend to peel off. But for the contents: SHORT OS. As reported in other reviews, the text gives the impression of being from a OCR, as if the text was scanned on an old print edition. The reading is extremely frustrating, with character names that change within the same page, mistakes like "elf" instead of "she". These are not typos, but of character recognition errors most of the time. "Take away your hand this boot" instead of "box" "Young man, 'said the Reverend Mother, let us return to the raves" instead of "Dreams" "Both are convinced elf wishes to serve, and she especially wants to serve you" "Why me liver of this comedy?" to "Was it possible that one is for something else?" has not ??? etc etc etc I hope that the following volumes are not of the same ilk, I do not know if I could go through.
