Unholy Savior (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Battle Beast are certainly one of the most interesting newcomers metal bands of recent years. They can indeed practically everything: Heavy, cheesy, quiet, rock .... The first album was great, the second terrific and here we have the third. Clearly, bad is what else but the song selection is made somehow not quite my taste.

Even with the two pre-release teaser song "Madness" and "Touch in the night" I was thinking more so Well ... since but still has a bit more to come. Does it even, but really just a bit. The only highlights of this album, I would note in "Speed and Danger" and "Far Far Away". Since infected in large part in it what the strength of Battle Beast has identified at first albums: pace, gripping riffs, passion and action. Most of the other songs is not bad, I think (as metalheads) itself "Touch In The Night" is not really bad; the song is catchy - but because just missing something. The title track "Unholy Savior" in my opinion is probably unfortunately one of the most boring numbers on the CD: easy once read hardly any variation in the chorus and the title pretty long drawn. Then there there are the two numbers "The Black Swordsman" and "Hero's Quest", whose meaning I absolutely do not understand. A short (about 1 minute) Intro to a relatively short instrumental? But then verballern 2 song titles? How to do it right was impressive to see the latest CD followed with the atmospheric "Golden Age" of the virtuoso "Kingdom".

Also worth mentioning is certainly that 2 ballads are represented on this CD. But that this is not safe, the strength of this band fall these two songs pretty good. Nevertheless, 2 would it not have to be. This has misplaced something in addition to the otherwise so wacky rest.

Finally, is there still the bonus track, the cover of "Push It to the Limit". Who knows Scarface or GTAIII, will also probably know this song. I think he's pretty good and also the cover has succeeded. I would have a groovy track expected but it is worth listening to anyway. And as worth listening to, I would describe the entire album. The 80s pop influences from the area are just a little too much, especially when compared to the previous albums and the song selection somehow not so skin off your feet. Too much unspectacular case.

Overall, an average to decent album that leaves but want me at the same time strongly that the band has lived out their "catchy and pop" phase and future returns to what made the first two albums for such firecrackers.
