The previous speaker, I can unfortunately not connect anything so ridiculous-sounding, I have rarely seen ...
The Spiderwick books are "Rough Cut", in German: raw Buchschnitt (and look at Wikipedia). This book section is very often used as a design element, especially in the American fantasy novels ("The Chronicles of Narnia", "Artemis Fowl" etc.) and are also found in German literature more and more use.
Posted by critics: "Unfortunately - at least in my copy - a child the sides cut with scissors Children: irregular, frayed, real primitive that does not fit."
Who inspired this type of presentation, which I can recommend additional readings on the Spiderwick Chronicles definitely! (In German and English available):
- "The Chronicles of Spiderwick: A Grand Tour of the Enchanted World, Navigated by Thimbletack"
- "Arthur Spiderwick's Field Guide: To the Fantastic World Around You"
- "Spiderwick Chronicles Care and Feeding of Sprites"
Of course, one could summarize the many small individual Spiderwick books into a big thick paperback, but I would so never buy a version, because for me would be lost all the charm of the series. In a simple black and white printed book with closest budding Scripture reading would be too exhausting and it would remain probably no place for the wonderful illustrations by Tony Di Terlizzi, the entraining each with its award-winning works in his crafted fantasy world!
Absolute must for buying-Fantasy Fans! :) A real competition for Harry Potter, Eragon, Narnia etc.
