I then my best friend (Google) asked. The thought:
The drive actually works only on Macs that do not have DVD drive at the factory.
It can get up and running but also on any Mac, by modifying the following file: /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist
This needs to be copied to the desktop and open with TextEdit.
between the two simply
Kernel Flags
mbasd = 1
paste and save. Then move the file to the location mentioned above and overwrite the existing. Start Anew. Done.
Conclusion:
The SD is unquestionably a great product and processed really excellent. It perfectly matches the MacBook Air and claimed only one USB port. So who needs a drive that only one USB port required, can confidently buy Apple's SD, but may have to modify the software. All others I can only advise to buy an external drive from another vendor. Already for 90 euros you get a BluRay burner of a brand manufacturer.
The product gets to me "only" 3 stars, because it is not referred to the incompatibility with respect to other Macs and the SD is just too expensive for what it may.
