To my surprise, the positive case is made entirely of plastic.
The lid, that is the top, actually consists of metal, possibly aluminum. The
has the inestimable advantage of being here heat developments of hard disk are good derived,
what the life of the drive will benefit. Inside the metal surface even very clean
coated with a transparent plastic film, so that the hard drive is electrically isolated from the outside world. Top.
Processing I judge as very good because the metal lid is clean in the plastic frame
incorporated and even the plastic parts make a high-quality impression.
Overall, the product, as everything else from Aukley is - well designed. Reminds again slightly
to the Apple design, which is of course basically fine. That applies here, incidentally, also for the extraordinary
elaborate packaging.
The hard disk to be incorporated, in my case, a Hitachi standard 2.5 "HDD with 320GB and a height of 7mm,
absolutely perfect pass into the base plate and is already locked perfectly without wobbling without cover.
For 9mm high boards is also space. Thus with the lid closed no rattles in the housing,
a foam pad on the inside of the lid was applied already by factory.
The solution is simple and obviously effective.
The rear-side cover for closing over the entire length from back to front in the guide rails
inserted until it locked. The hard drive is in any case kept safe in the housing.
A status LED displays in blue, if the hard drive at the terminal depends. The same LED displays in
red data accesses to.
Although you usually traditionally incorporates traditional hard drives with the platinum side down,
here is the board vice versa in the case when the disk in operation with the Aukley lettering upwards
is placed. This makes today's hard drives, however, nothing more, and manufacturers instructions for correct
Mounting position of the hard drive also came to me for years is no longer under. So no problem with SSD hard drives
the point would be anyway no longer worth mentioning.
One more thing: There is a 60 cm long USB 3.0 cable (housing side Micro AB) supplied which, although well made, but is also very stiff.
Thus, the right lightweight housing shifts happy times in the direction of the cable connection. Here could
non-slip rubber linings on the corners of the bottom of the case - or better - a thinner, more flexible cables Remedy
create.
Priced at 9.99 (as of September 2014), the quality and workmanship is excellent. It remains so naturally
with 5 stars.
* The housing is offered by AukeyDirect - but I have the same exact case by other
Providers spotted with other company logo (for example, "TechNet"). The actual manufacturing company therefore remains questionable.
The case does not diminish yes, over AukeyDirect the thing currently is the best :-)
