Almost perfect pictures provides the V3 in almost every hand. This is a point, the question probably few users. But the price is high, compared to direct competitors maybe even too high. Personally, I would forego an upgrade from the V1 or V2. Despite the improvement and development of not gold that glitters is what. By then, if the high quality products of the predecessor proves incompatible with the new edition of the franchise, I feel patronized as the end user, and ripped like the proverbial cow to be milked.
A completely different approach arises for customers who first venture into the upscale Photography. I am, for example, too stupid to stingy and convenient to zuzulegen an extensive SLR or equipment. On the other hand, I do not want to give up the ability to create very good snapshots for private use. And so I move professionally probably exactly at the same level, which also Nikon would like to address a priority with such a system cameras.
The alleged freedom has advantages and disadvantages. The V3 is incredibly compact, the housing quality, the feel - despite missing the handle - perfectly. The service I would describe as more classical. A very good and detailed guide helps you get started. From me not particularly missed, is the lack of a viewfinder. This is optionally available at a hefty price. Already here are the ghosts. Viewfinder yes or no, is a question of faith.
In everyday use, I am against tired of supposedly minor. The old batteries - as mentioned above - can no longer be used? Annoying, but happens to be that way. But why is the "new" battery charger designed in a size nearly reached the level of self-V3? And already the new camera bag for traveling is twice as large. An SD card slot has also been thrown out of the program and has a microSD card slot given way. Expensive, fiddly, unnecessary. And the joy of the built-in flash gives way to the disillusionment that this is a relatively low-power member of his profession.
This up and down in many areas, is one of the main reasons why I refuse the camera unrestricted highest rating. In this price range, the expectation tends to a reference product quite rightly to perfection. This claim is the Nikon often but not always fair. The tripping speed and the super-fast & effective autofocus are signboards that are currently hardly reaches from the competition. Already the automatic mode delivers superb images, working with the folding screen and the built-in touch screen is really fun. Even the video function to the level of high-quality camcorder, although the maximum recording time has been unnecessarily restricted. The Wi-Fi feature in combination with the necessary apps combines useful gimmicks (remote trigger, wireless image transmission) with a little playfulness.
Conclusion: ambitious amateur photographers with the necessary small change, the (still) do not seek to jump to a high-priced DSLR equipment, the V3 offers certainly a certain urge to buy. However, the entry into the somewhat obscure V-series of Nikon should be well thought out. And just in terms of the aforementioned weaknesses in the review and the currently still very high purchase price it pays, if necessary on an older, technically sound, but still cheaper device recourse. That being said - four earned stars for a mature and good system camera whose simple and effective operating concept, convinced at breakneck speed and great photo quality, basically.
