SLOW - There would be a more dynamic sound with John Illsley or Tony Levin !!!

The CD has with Basil, Beryl, Lights of Tamorina, River Towns some good songs that have been discussed already more than enough here. The song reminds Beryl after statements Knopfler to the old Dire Straits sound. The song would, however, with the powerful and dynamic bass playing of John Illsley and Tony Levin (Peter Gabriel) could still be considerably upgraded. Mark is certainly an honest storyteller and he delivers on Tracker again crafted from solid work. Also on the recording quality there as always nothing to complain about. Nevertheless, the fans expect from such a large exceptional guitarist more than another solid album.
The reason for the lack of dynamism, is partly because that Mark wants to work with a large number of instruments and that this be grandiose guitar playing simply neglected. In addition, Glenn Worf is more of a bassist for slow folk, country, blues or jazz numbers. Fast and dynamic rock songs there will not be with him. If Mark continues to work with Glenn, the sound on the CD will be predictable nächstenn again. John Illsley was involved with brilliant bass playing instrumental in the dynamic sound of Dire Straits.

When Mick Jagger (Stones) or Eric Clapton had already stopped 41-42 years to rock or bluesen and only a mixture of country and folk and soft rock elements have played, then this would certainly have a lot of people disappointed. Therefore, I can understand here all Dire Straits fans, have the desire for a slightly faster song. Classic rock songs are just more popular than a mixture of country and folk and bar music.

When Mark with Beryl already a song in the style of Dire Straits writes, then he could have equal invite his old friend John. John plays the old Dire Straits songs with full enthusiasm. A look Johns Illsleys awesome dynamic bass playing on 'Where do you think you're going "Hengelo 2015' from minute 3:30 on, then you will know immediately what is missing some pieces of Marks.

One should not forget that the music of Dire Straits had highest attraction (cult). A rock song like Telegraph Road is not comparable in its complexity with a relatively simple-arranged song in Country or folk style.

If Mark wants to make his old fans sometimes a little pleasure, then he should start on some pieces of the next CD once another bassist (Tony Levin, Pino Palladino or John Illsley). A little more innovation can not hurt anyway.
