From the first pages, the book surprised me with its originality and vision of life. The introduction is a masterpiece, I read 4 times desuite to savor. In this book Kundera poses essential questions and answering them, assures us that any response is debatable but that choices are irreversible. The personages are very close to us, the more we expect of a work to the limit of the test and situated in Eastern Europe. The story is so brilliantly directed, meaningful and rich in surprises has my surprise it is a novel. Perhaps the best book I have read. To keep on top of the shelf as I reread the probably soon.
