Hassan is probably the complete opposite of Colin. He is not stupid, but probably a bit closer to the normality and others. In addition, he does not mince his words and also like to escape, which he did not always appear polite, but he is after all, an honest man and he likes Colin just as he is. With his sense of humor, he has caused many highly amusing scenes and so I had to read a lot of fun! Combined with Colin he runs on top form and I think that both could have been very happy in their own circle of friends - anyone the others must entertain yes;).
Pretty soon the two are stranded in a place called Gutshot and Lindsey Lee Wells and her mother. This place is really anything but normal. John Green has come up since come up with a couple of very special characteristics. A tampon thread factory, the grave of a certain "archdukes" and a house completely in pink, for example. Colin and Hassan get a job for the summer, but by the one experiences other, almost forgotten things about gutshot and can listen to stories that are really touching.
The book suggests that on many levels to think about: friendship, love, family, charity, reminders and more. The book is not thrilling, but I could not stop reading. Of course I wanted to know how it happened, the whole Colin was left 19 times of Katherine's how he met Hassan has learned and whether he will probably get over Katherine number 19. In gutshot he experience, Hassan and Lindsey so much that boredom can be no question.
What I liked personally, the one or the other but perhaps annoying, was the mathematical aspect of the story. Yes, even math happens, but just a little. Colin tries namely to create a kind of relationship equation, based on the Katherine experience that he has gathered. One can these pieces of history but also know how to be without a number of friends, because it is only minimal and John Green takes it all by witty footnotes and the "seriousness". But his other footnotes are simply built great in history and provide some Schmunzler.
If you now but questions would be, what is the "moral" of the story then I could not tell right away that. I've been thinking about many things in the book and have also learned a lot, about everything, but a take-home message (as they say now), I did not recognize. Maybe that was so wanted, maybe I have it but just did not understand: D. It has nonetheless made a lot of fun to read the book and come to the Katherine puzzle on the ropes together with Colin.
And yes, in addition to all the exiting-If there are a few romantic moments in the book. However, it is less Rumgeschmachte, as the approach of two persons who are on the same wavelength, but nevertheless can learn from each other - both spiritually and socially. Since I could not empathize with Colin me and the female part had enough outstanding features, this romance could not touch me like some others. Nevertheless, I liked it, because last time two people find each other for the right reasons, even if they only have to overcome a few obstacles.
CONCLUSION
An Abundance of Katherines is a great book that tells a good story both very funny, but also quite naturally makes you think. I had my fun with Colin, Hassan and Lindsey and her little adventure in gutshot. A perfect book for in between and on - Watch out for the guys! Yes I think even guys will like the humor of the book :).
