Before I begin, as always: A few words about me and my way of seeing things. Those who have been granted, it can not identify, for the following review is rather unhelpful.

The Gothic series of Piranha Bytes is my absolute favorite unbeaten when it comes to RPGs. No PC game has ever given me so much fun as the first two and a half parts of this series (I mean Gothic I, II and the addon Night of the Raven). I have each of these three games certainly played through more than 10 times. Gothic 3 was then a rough disappointment Gothic 4 Arcania anyway, but that Piranha Bytes had nothing more on his hat. Risen I found quite successful, though not nearly as awesome as the Gothic series, for the second part (Risen 2: Dark Waters) I could even unfortunately only awarded 3 stars. (To my Risen 2 review:)

Well, then let's start times. I'll hold the first part of the review largely spoiler-free and only minor things that were expected to mention. In the end then follow the clearly marked part of the spoiler contains.

Genre:

The trailers, teasers and articles Risen 3 I always found quite exciting. I especially liked actually that you could get away a little of the whole pirate thing appeared again. Now that I've played the game, I can not reveal too much to spoil that probably is not entirely the case. To me still a clear pirate game. That made me but, contrary to expectations not disappointed, on the contrary. There were plenty of ships to visit, the new islands were really nice and made true to detail. For example, there was little Fischschwärmchen who are constantly fleeing from one or parrots and other birds of paradise, you startled from time to time. But thumbs up. What I found rather disturbing about the whole pirate thing was the boat-riding. The battles were quite very well done, as you unlike Assassins Creed Black Flag had not only shoot ever on the ship, but it always went straight to the boarding. It was fun. Not fun, however, but in my opinion only annoying and unnecessary were the battles against the sea monster. It may be a matter of opinion, but for me that was nothing

Story:

As already mentioned several times here, the story is pretty lame. Evil power on the island, selling Monster save the world. There are still one or another turn in the game, which makes the whole thing a bit more interesting, but with so such a cool story as Gothic I can not keep that. But is not so bad, an RPG can be super anyway, see Gothic II.
More times should not be told the purpose Spoilergefahr the story.

Melee System

I opted for the path of the swordsman and connected me the Demon Hunters. The combat system has me initially very annoyed. They had to execute without being interrupted and killed by a chain beating the opponent little chance several blows against an opponent. In retrospect, I found it then very successful. Gradually, you can learn skills such as Bladedancer or counter that greatly simplify a fighting then. Nevertheless, my simple combat system in Gothic liked almost better and also the system of Risen I with a total of 10 stages I found really great. A Riesenlob I would nevertheless like to take this opportunity. In Risen 2 Piranha Bytes has begun to incorporate Finishing Moves. However, these were absolutely cheap and poorly managed, as I have also complained at the time. Here, a lot has done, there is really a bunch of different moves and all look really cool, but a clear thumbs up! Too bad I found that there was no two-handed sword. How does the situation with such a small knife at the hip and a miniature crossbow dangling front of the belt? I want a 3-meter long two-handed sword and crossbow ne thick at the back look man! That can not be that hard! ;) And finally, a very positive thing of the combat system: The Dodge. I am now no one who gambles excessively much, but so far I have not played a game in which Dodge was so hugely important and, moreover, looked so cool. This has really Bock made, thank you!

Ranged:

In a nutshell: I did not used and not used. The Pistolenschießerei has me excited for the second part and it does so still. From a role-play this time, I expect that you can aim with a crossbow or a bow and indeed with the left mouse button. You get a crosshair, so I can aim and if I will let go of the mouse button shot. For me this is the way that most are playfulness in such long-range weapons. I think if you learn muskets, the whole thing a little more fun, but with guns and crossbows, I could not do anything. During the struggle E to push the goal to let go, at any rate rather bored me.

Healing:

All dishes stamped as provisions, I found different from my predecessor pretty cool. So you could always put the in the Quick Access Toolbar and always had on any number what to munch on low cure! ;)
What have I already criticized in the last part and which is still totally bugging me: What the hell, I can heal during a fight? This is absolutely unrealistic, and taking a fight any stimulus. From Gothic one knows the way that you at least have to run away to a certain extent, to take a drink or speak to a healing spell. In Risen I'm considering Rum on a shortcut number and can beat up my opponent and make my life full bar again at any time. That's pointless people

Dietrich system:

If you (in Part 2 was already the same) in Risen 3 has a skeleton found, you can open any lock for which you are skilled enough. While it often takes a while until you get the hang of, but it always manages, the Dietrich is unbreakable. The system itself looks great and is fun, but because I find other systems where you can fail by far more exciting. See Skyrim or from me also like to Gothic I. This Left Right combinations were an absolutely simple system, but it was always exciting and never boring.

Guild:

I joined the Demon Hunters and took it as far as also pretty cool. Nevertheless, I had hoped to be found a similar atmosphere as Lee mercenaries or hunters dragons in Gothic. But that was not the case. The bearings of the guilds are definitely very well done and has designed highly detailed.

Weapons and armor:

I think it's still a shame that there are so few armor and that you get them so easily. I always found it interesting that it was usually 7-8 armor in the Gothic series. It has increased with each and the last defense was at the end of 20 times as strong as the first. That was cool. It was the same with weapons. About the game play across one has ever done 15Waffen because you always found new ones that were a little stronger. In Risen 3 there were with me in total. 5

Other:

A few more teleporters would have been nice if there already are so many stones. The companion I found so far completely cool. The demon hunter from the beginning was an unpleasant Penner and stayed that way. The gnome was quite useless and boring, but whatever. Mega cool succeeded is definitely Bones, who was my absolute favorite. Has somehow reminds me Gorn and often times brought a grin! :)
Mini Games
Cool, I found again that there were mini-games such as arm wrestling, knife throwing or betting booze. Nothing you can do forever, but a few times it's very funny and it contributes enormously to just a good game atmosphere.

Funny, I found the Easter eggs that should remind us of Gothic. The guy said they eingerannt the door and speaks exactly the same text as before the digger in the old warehouse. Absolutely great. That it had to actually give so nen annoying Mud again, I was a bit too much. Cool was it that you meet the Nameless from Risen 2 again and gets drunk with him. Such trifles are simply confers a Piranha Bytes game so much heart. Mega strong, I found that there were three big bosses in the game, that had to be overcome. Especially Margoloth has enormously a lot of fun to me.

Anyone who has read my review of Risen 2, noted that some issues are virtually identical in here and were not solved: learn picks, healing attributes by paying gold Other items were previously solved very well, such as that it is now the possible maximum life energy is to increase or the already mentioned finishing moves.

Generally, it occurs to me at my reviews, they often sound very negative. If you look up in addition to the title, but you can see that I can forgive 4 stars, which is indeed a thoroughly positive result. Me it is just important to highlight the negative things and thus to bring improvements. (Yes, I imagine that these reviews be read here) As such, it is a game that I can recommend to others. I do not have as much time to gamble, but the PB Games I'll always play, because they are simply made with an enormous amount of heart and attention to detail. All in all: Keep it up!

And one more thing at the very end: I have not found a single bug and the game has never crashed. Since Gothic 3 should appreciate that in any case. Thumbs up!
