Four years have passed already since Christina ago provoked with STRIPPED, dissed and has attracted everyone's attention. The former tracks were all personally, catchy and very melodic, yet nothing more than well-produced, mainstream commercial fare. At that time it is to be taken seriously succeeded, but the Girlie Image remained stick to it. BACK TO BASICS, Mrs Aguilera's second stroke of genius (on the first album I lose rather not say a word), is once again stocked exclusively with great songs. But the new album stands out clearly from the predecessor. Even the different equipment have caused the eyes of the expectant CD buyer light: 2 CDs with 22 brand new tracks (the intros and interludes can be regarded as independent pieces of music); an outstanding booklet with over 30 ornate glossy photos + Lyrics and Back to Basics Bonus Video on the 2nd CD (!) - all for a fair price! But what Back to Basics makes better than STRIPPED? A well structured approach was already apparent during Dirrty-length album, but the "home" of the single IS NOT NO OTHER MAN pulls this concern more precise and more transparent. It will not be pressed to forced stopgap between potential Maxi-extractions, but it all makes a great whole. Every song is placed purposefully and sensibly, completes the previous track or paves the way for the next song - in content, but also by Arrangement ago. The first CD, on which 13 "modern", beat-heavy songs with different samples, as well as jazz and soul elements are, impresses with dance-crazy rhythms, great choruses and of course Christina's powerful voice. Time you will feel like in a church full of gospel singers, starts to get up, clap and move your butt, sometimes as in a full club with pumping parquet. But it is important that this is not Christina Aguilera legends like Otis Redding or Aretha Franklin copied, but it recognizes and creates a stylish combination between old and new music. She has participated each track underpin the composition and writing and was the executive producer of this album! After repeated listening this CD I was totally carried away, but unfortunately so typical of Christina ballads were missing. Linda Perry (former lead singer of 4non Blonde + co-songwriter / producer at STRIPPED) and Mrs Aguilera have devoted this time to past successes (eg BEAUTIFUL) a common extra CD. WOW !!! The second CD forms a complete contrast to the first program, here you will find the BASICS one expects when buying the album. The 9 tracks of CD2 go into your ear and you fall in love for each Basket more and more into the smoky jazz bar feel. The ballads are emotional and atmospheric than ever. The only fast track CANDYMAN tears every dance muffle from the stool and NASTY NAUGHTY BOY sounds so erotic and lustful that DIRRTY other hand looks like a children's disco. The sex appeal on Back to Basics is not dirty and provocative sloppy therefore, but subtle, mature and lady-like. Christina Aguilera has managed what the Whitney and Mariah are trying in vain for years: to be a real Diva (in the sense pos.) And to build on previous successes. Direct hit! The Grammy goes to ....
Playing tips:
-UNDERSTAND (A modern ballad that is reminiscent of old Aretha Franklin classics) -slow DOWN BABY (pompous beat number with hip-hop elements) -STILL DIRRTY (quickie, good danceable and with a peppery Beat mixed) -CANDYMAN (The TARZAN AND JANE ARE SWINGING ON A Vine- sample and the rhythm sound old school and let the ground tremble) -I GOT TROUBLE (like a gem of an old scratched vinyl from the loft, Billie Holiday would cheer!) -HURT (SUCH a piano ballad that not found in other artists) -SAVE ME FROM MYSELF (gently sighing shows Christina a new facet of her voice her voice; with a subtle musical background for me the best song on the album)
