Sure, today's cameras, the iPhone 5, Galaxy S, Sony X - League are quite decent. But nothing appeared against the last year Nokia 808 PureView, which I own since then. From the camera feature of the PureView I'm still excited. But the old Symbian happens to have no long-term perspective. So I've bought immediately the Galaxy S4 Zoom, that's just up to date in the smartphone area. After about one week of testing here my impressions, always in comparison with the PureView:
+ Camera
Samsung has a 10x optical zoom installed. This has the disadvantage of a rather clunky housing and minimal delayed start, but from about 3x zoom offers probably the best photos in the smartphone area. The PureView is superior in the field without Zoom image quality and faster and a little brighter, but from about 3x the tide turns. When S4 Zoom convinced the macro function. This is significantly better than the PureView. Probably by far the best macro camera on a smartphone. Overall, the camera of the S4 Zoom is completely convincing and very good compact camera accordingly.
+ Android
The current OS 4.2 the zoom convinces everybody is functional and very fast. No stuttering, everything runs smoothly. The telephone function is without blemish. A huge app selection. Samsung already provides with extensive tools for camera and photo-editing. When PureView I miss a simple function that I can send data quickly reduced photos times. The there is the zoom.
+ Processing, display and case
The workmanship is very good. The housing is clunky, but is good precisely because of the bulges in his hand and that when taking pictures like using a smartphone. Also, it still fits well in your pocket. The display has lights and shadows. Normally it is quite excellent, but under direct strong sunlight rather weak. Since the PureView to lengths better. Too bad also that you can not start directly above the trigger from sleep mode, the camera of the zoom.
+ More
The battery life is quite outstanding. Here, the 2330 mAh battery is set in conjunction with the comparatively small display its strengths. Even after a full day of intensive use are in the evening still 30% available.
I have the Zoom despite the somewhat clunky housing in daily use and will do so until further notice so. The new Lumia 1020 I'm going to also look at of course, but because of the Win Phone OS I have my doubts. That made me so far are unconvincing. And a top camera with a not entirely convincing smartphone OS I have with the old PureView, especially as the price of 1020 almost twice as high as is already the Galaxy S4 from Zoom. But let's see.
