MUSE's magnum opus !!

The Resistance (Audio CD)

Customer Review

For Muse was initially once said: The voice of the singer Matt Bellamy polarized very strong, and if anyone have this 'whining' can not do this to yourself this is absolutely legitimate. When you get used to it and singing like (like me) opened here in 54 minutes, a whole universe.

Muse have always been great, and already the last album 'Black Holes And Revelations' I thought the show 'Now they have created their magnum opus'. Are you kidding me? Are you serious when you say that!

The new album starts with a compact Shuffle catchy tune, the first single 'Uprising' (by the way with very nice video). Even here there are Muse typical bombastic harmonies. After very strong title track is a very special gem: 'Undisclosed Desires'. Boosted by a Sample Beat and Pizz strings à la 'Die Another Day' (Madonna) in much better is this song a hybrid of electronic gadgetry and ballad, and this adventurous mix works incredibly well.

The shallow intro of 'United States Of Eurasia' is only a short time to breathe before a queen chorus the song drives forward and a piano / string theme in some varied Phrygian major scale jaw of the unprepared listener out of sheer beauty to the ground drops. Is still in the same song then the Nocturne Op.9 by Chopin verwurstelt, totally good!

This is followed by three more, above-average typical Muse titles, which in turn are characterized by great harmonies and choruses class before a very special track comes: 'I Belong To You (+ Mon Coeur s'ouvre A Ta Voix)', A groovy Piano Song (yeah, so what kanns give ^^). Actually, one should expect a knotless love song instead heard a grotesque love song parody with great self-irony. The sung in French midsection is originally from Camille Saint-Saëns' opera Samson and Delilah, and no later than the subsequent clarinet solo should be the last have figured out how this song is interpreted. Wonderfully ridiculous !!

When it was reported in advance of the new Muse record, there were always references to a quarter-hour orchestral work. Divided into 3 tracks that Exogenisis Symphony closes the album. Here needed even my prog tested ears a couple of runs before I understood the work. Since then, I think the frenetic praise some Amazon reviewers is absolutely justified in this suite, it really is the very best orchestra / band factory that is in my record collection.

Thanks to my penchant for special editions I have also the accompanying bonus DVD documenting the recording process of the individual tracks. For musicians interesting, and certainly one of the better bonus DVDs in my collection.

Conclusion: I have 'The Resistance' bought with high expectations that were exceeded by lengths! Definitely next to the new Dream Theater one of the best discs of the year, and I think that this album has the potential to be later regarded as one of the classics of the decade.

PS: Oh, and about the extremely well-crafted cover artwork I have now lost a single word '

PPS: I've just read a few negative reviews for the album, and there a little anger I do not come up. If someone writes that his music is not like that's the one thing. On this basis, which is perfectly legitimate, music is ultimately a matter of taste. But if you in a very objective-sounding tone, the album is dismissing as commercial, boring, shallow, smug (...) pop music for me totally wrong and a slap in the face of the musician.
