So small (92 x 52 x 22 mm) I had not imagined. I once had a similar (10x zoom) Sony, the HX5V years ago. That was with 103 x 58 x 25 mm still noticeably bigger. This represents at least 40% more volume (in the HX5V) and correspondingly more difficult it was (200 to 121g).
The image quality is as expected. And much has been written enough. A 10x zoom 25-250 I find perfectly adequate. The last few years I did not have any "travel zoom" camera but only a μ4 / 3 with a maximum of 90 mm kB-equivalent and a bright compact with a maximum of 120 mm (Nikon P330). Since the maximum focal length of 250 mm WX220 are then a real asset. Nikon said I had actually bought for the GPS sensor of but rarely works convincingly. Now I wanted to try it, if the geo-tagging with Wi-Fi and smart phone connectivity that works better.
I was pleasantly surprised. The connection works actually quite simple: You choose the camera's menu
Menu -> Wireless -> Ctrl with Smartphone
and gets shown the SSID of the hotspot and the password. Thus, the camera takes on its own hotspot. This works everywhere, so does not require a local WLAN. It continues then on the smartphone: As you load down the app "PlayMemories" and at the start after the start to look the same after a camera and found the well. Now you have to once again enter the password and the connection is established. The next time the password is then known and it is correspondingly faster.
If the app is running times, the camera can remotely operate quite extensive, so for example the zoom drive, integrated GPS or on the flash on and off and also trigger. First of all this is of course a nice gimmick. But I can well imagine that it is possible that from time to time also responsibly me. For example, if you hold the camera over your head and or for other reasons - does not have the screen when triggered in view - not only the "Selfie". Anyway, I am convinced that I so doubt easier valid GPS data get it in my pictures than with the built-in sensor of my P330.
... And a little something at the end: Finally a camera whose battery is via a standard micro-USB charger can charge by phone! That alone makes it really too sensational travel camera, because I have such an adapter in the car and certainly not forgotten on vacation.
