And what are the expectations? "Hollaback Girl", "Drop It Like It's Hot", "Slave 4 U", "Senorita," ... and so I could probably go on forever. Say the expectations are very high, in which what Pharrell has so brought out as part of the Neptunes everything known and unknown, but (almost) always ingenious things.
So clean it and what do you get? A 15 track strong album written entirely by Pharrell (except for guest appearances) and produced. One half of the other half are Raptracks RnB, this division only noticeable during Durchhöhrens if one really pays attention. Nevertheless, the RnB tracks sound a little better than the Raptracks because Pharrell rape but a little to the monotony tend, although they have since "Drop It Like It's Hot" but improved a lot. Pharrell singing is when you are on the higher notes, well, even if with "Young Girl" is a real Jaul orgy here.
And as now the album sounds? The first one is by listening obviously disappointed not to get presents on the assembly line hits due to the high expectations. The most experimental number is clear, "Can I have it like that?", The rest has style but very much like "Frontin '", which worked very well on the "Clones" CD of the Neptunes. It fiepst and beeps (in a good way) in many places and always something happens in these songs so eingige but right can be ansrengend (specifically "How Does It Feel").
After several auditioning but now looks but a very positive picture of the whole one, because the album is simply kept very homogeneous. It is not the About tracks it, or mad experimental stuff but just a few good numbers in Pharrell style and although completely without failures.
The best number is "Number 1" with Kanye West (which would have worked well without Mr. West), the only one in my eyes track of a possible comparison with previous Michael Jackson numbers could meet.
Bottom line is that the album definitely could use a few more experimental or outstanding tracks, but as yet remains a very pleasant and smooth sanded overall impression.
