The work of Piketty is enough to discourage the neophytes. Swallowing 900 saving pages for one who is not accustomed to reading, could be an anxiety-producing perspective. In reality it is rather the opposite, the author is addressed first to the uninitiated. For those accustomed to economic and familiar models with the functioning of capitalism, this book bored by its overflow basic concepts of definitions and explanations that may seem unnecessary. The central message of the book (which I leave to find one who is willing to swallow the pavement) remains interesting. It allows to take stock of the evolution of inequalities and causes of trends, which are relatively few themes debated by economists. A hundred pages would have sufficed without missing out on the essentials (but they might have been affordable for all).
