After formatting the disk on the adapter but was detected only sporadically. She ran her audible constantly down and up again (the same problem as the reviewer has already described with the 1-star review). Even the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon disappeared. This meant that the PC was constantly hanging on shutdown screen. The plate was detected times, the copying of data was stopped by error messages after a few seconds and the plate went back down (and up again ... etc). A firmware update was not successful. Even a blue screen caused by the adapter.
I subsequently contacted the Sharkoon support, who gave me the hint, try the adapter times to a different USB port. And actually - about the VIA VL800 chip controlled by USB3 ports does the adapter. Previously I had the interface onto the front-USB3 connected, which is well controlled by the Intel Z77 Express chipset on my motherboard. It should be noted here that my USB3 motherboard drivers are all up to date. Nevertheless, the "Safely Remove Hardware" works desöfteren not ("device is currently in use", although I'm not sure zugreife), and I need the hard drive before shutdown manually off - which in the long run is probably not good for the plate. Functions as the various IDE connectors on the adapter I have not tried.
Especially do I copy large files with about 145 MB / sec., Which for the hard disk is a normal value (PCGH is 153 MB / sec as a maximum writing speed of the hard drive).
Conclusion: For my purposes, the adapter works (finally), but apparently it is not compatible with all USB3 chipsets ... whether this is due to the motherboard drivers or the adapter I do not know, so I was only one star deduction - mainly to customers who may have no alternative USB3 ports, such as to warn on a laptop, before this potential malfunction.
