Doctor Sleep (Paperback)

Customer Review

I am one of those readers who read Stephen King for the fantastic side of his stories, not to scare me with gory and scary scenes.
Jaime enter strange worlds (as in the saga of the Dark Tower) populated by well drawn characters whose adventures, told in a style devoid of mannerisms, maident to leave my daily life. This is, to me it seems, distinguishing the author from others, and precisely this is what i have read in Dr. Sleep.
I spent a good time with this novel, in a universe that mest familiar ... maybe a little too well.
Jentends by this that the characters, well written and well quintéressants, eventually look too much, to the point of melting into each other in my memory. That is my main criticism.
Of course, I have realized that lorsquon wrote many novels and invented so many characters, it becomes difficult to create something new. Yet ... I found a pity to see Nth alcoholic hero, clueless and a bit loser (missing was that he is a writer) whose thoughts / obsessive visions appear regularly in the form of short phrases in italics (or in capital letters, according to the intensity emotional ).
There is a bit of Larry Underwood here, a little there ... Dean dEddie you get the picture? A big sensation of deja vu do not abandon my during my reading.

This novel is all it has over there "Kingien". The ingredients that made its success are there. Gore, paranormal, ordinary characters face extraordinary events, villain (s) abject (s) and nice (the) s adorable, a little Manichaeism, etc. In short, this is classic, with a very good translation Bonus (Congratulations to Nadine Gassie).

If you love Stephen King, I think you will like this novel.
