There is little doubt that these 1971 recordings made while the violinist was 69 years old, are not much help baroque revolution. The sound is broad, vibrated, wise tempos, lyrical expression.
And yet! Although not a fan of traditional interpretations of Bach, I must admit that it happens here beautiful things. The softness of expression, a discreet and never dripping sentimentality, a great technical quality give this disc a phrase certainly timeless but not distressed.
Obviously, you will not find much here of mind dance or lively allegro in more "moderato" that "assai" and legato roughly constant as the soloist of the orchestra can sometimes seem a bit stuffy, but not heavy . But auditors reluctant to sounds Rights violinists "baroque" should find here a version to their liking.
And Largo from Concerto for two violins, broad and lyrical as an opera duet, worth listening to everyone!
