So we start now but with the first impression:
Haptics & Size: 3.5 4 stars
6 inches (5.96 ok) are really insanely great! But how it feels in the hand !? Good ... surprisingly well even. The curved back of the device, it nestles almost in hand. It is far from being a flatterer but it feels good and is better than expected in their hands! The workmanship is on a very high level (which should be at the price but also to expect!), Nothing knarrzt or bends. The metal frame feels great and helps Torsion of the device at. Because the display is slightly curved at the sides, the operation of the touch screen feels very pleasant, going in the direction of the Iphone. The feeling is hard to describe :) As initially described above, the back looks great, but the material I liked its predecessor but much better and unfortunately the reverse side as the N5 also a fingerprint magnet (at least in my present blue version)
What also remains to be mentioned: 184 grams for a smartphone is certainly nothing to sneeze at, especially if, like me, coming from a Nexus 5. But again, I think is the whole matter of habit! It feels because of the size, at least not as hard as it is to.
I think 3.5 4 stars for now I can live! Perhaps changes the whole thing over time. For 5 stars, the display would have allowed a maximum of 5.5 but that's just my personal opinion.
Software & Performance: 5 stars
Here I can not judge otherwise than by the full score even. Pure Android and this hardware ... Absolutely terrific. If you look at the pure data, then I ask myself where the journey still goes !? Much worse than in my MacBook's hardware is almost impossible now. You need in one smartphone ?! If we are honest: No !!! For my application, the performance of a Moto G's more than enough, but well the device has these requirements after all and I'm thrilled! Thus a liquid so OS and even with 10 applications in memory no shocks or other ... Underlying. That's all there is to it! (You can tell here but also slowly coming to nothing new. The devices are designed as good as out! You see what a Moto X 2013 with the relevant data to make able / or if the see the bigger picture would dare such a strong Iphone 6 / 6+ performs)
Display & Battery: 4.5 stars
This is my first smartphone with an AMOLED display. At the moment I use it not to long enough to make me a final opinion. But the first impression is very positive so far. In particular, the active display is a very fine novelty. What here could express a criticism: The maximum brightness does not come close to that of the Nexus 5. But that's about whining on a very high level. The colors are strong oversaturated, but surprisingly, I like that even quite good! The viewing angles are very stable as long as you do not go to the very extreme angles. What, however, I noticed when the brightness greatly scale down the display gets a strong pink tinge. I do not like so real but mostly because I always in the just leave the brightness 50% I get the not so with, had just read it and wanted to see the phenomenon times! In Allgmeinen the display is calibrated quite warm, unfortunately there is not here the way as in the current Xperia series to perform a white balance.
Battery I can not say too much, but I have the power not long enough! What is, however, already be said: It is a middling battery. I have at the moment on average a Display On Time of a little over 4 hours. The battery had to be at that time for a period of about 16 hours and had a remaining capacity of 18%. Through the day so you should therefore come loose. As I said, these values are subject to change, of course, even when the battery has reached its full capacity. What I really like: Turbo Charging and QI Laden. Both will be supported by the N6 and loading with the supplied, charging adapter is a stunner. In my case the device was loaded in less than an hour from 18% to 100%! That's how it should be! The wireless charging after QI Standard are with me getting extra rubber points! Even if the loading takes longer so I am at least no longer be forced to put the phone to various power cord!
Speakers & Camera: 4 stars
The Speaker of the Nexus 6 is a delight compared with the Nexus 5. Really loud without clipping or distorting. You can tell which is meant the device for media consumption! And in my opinion, Google / Motorola has done a great job here. Especially compared to the Xperia Tablet Z3 I find the speakers better and better to regulate a. Great ... for ever perfect score.
The camera is also a significant improvement to its predecessor. At the snapping of the grade 4 or Iphone 6 unfortunately can not still approach but may complain, at least in daylight, not! I am highly satisfied with the results! Autofocus could work a bit faster as has, for example, the LG G3 clearly in the lead. But as I said becoming the camera of is N5 accustomed to look forward definitely an improvement!
Network / LTE / Connectivity: Very good / LTE will be submitted (5 Stars)
On the web of o2 I can tell nothing negative. The UMTS reception is very good also in buildings. LTE Capable my SIM not however, this point will be later submitted as soon as my contract for 1.1. is converted!
The Wi-Fi reception is felt a little better or faster than the N5.
The advantage of BT 4.1 I can not see the moment honestly. NFC is a function which I could use not make sense at the moment, therefore I rate not at this stage yet these features!
Preliminary Conclusions: 4.5 stars (personal impression)
The Motorola Nexus 6 is a crazy great smartphone with two problems: The size and the price. I do not think that is the unit sell anywhere near as good as the N5. Although we have all been accustomed to larger smartphones. The price is also deterred many potential buyers. From the purely technical data it is the absolute spearhead in Androidbereich but that will not last for long. The CES is finally yes at the door :)
So what can you give a preliminary ruling ?! Those who come clear with the size gets a top smartphone at a relatively high price. Ih, for one may make a very clear recommendation to buy, but also to bear in mind that I give a Nexus Fanboy'm sort. In other words, this report is purely subjective! :)
I wish everyone a Happy New Year 2015. I hope it will be a similarly exciting Hardware year as it was in 2014!
