The child Ocean (Paperback)

Customer Review

Yann is the latest in a family of seven brothers therefore 3 pairs of twins. He is the only no parity, it is weak and the top of its 10 years, looks like a little boy. Her parents are farmers, rather boorish and a light hand. One night, Yann wakes his brothers to flee, claiming he heard his parents said they would kill them all week. They go into a long walk to the Atlantic Ocean.
This short children's book gathers the testimonies of the brothers and the people they have met during their flight. Sounds like a story in which they are questioned witnesses to tell what they saw, what they felt and in which they are justified most of the time as if they felt guilty.
The book is cute despite the atmosphere of constant sadness. This book is like the tale of Tom Thumb revisited by Jean Claude Mourlevat so both faithful and personal. The portrait of the parents, the intervention of the social worker ect sets the scene of a large family, helpless.
The book is short to read and will appeal to children from 8-9 years. In my opinion this is a good book for required reading in school. Not too long to read, friendly, touching, endearing.
