*** Weight, measurements AND EQUIPMENT ***
For the compact size and low weight the unit gets a bonus! Weighing in at 400 grams, it is not particularly difficult, and by the Faltpanels also a compact manner to a size of 30x16 cm. Dick is a maximum of 2 cm at the point where the USB port is located, the remaining areas are approximately 7mm-14mm thick.
Unfolded the panel is 47 cm long, the width remains at 16 cm.
By loops, it can be attached to backpacks, tents, etc..
In the inside cover there is a USB port to which the device to the charging, can be connected.
Too bad that there are not two USB outputs, here would have an additional adapter to be purchased, if two units are to be loaded in parallel.
*** POWER ***
Manufacturer:
This solar panel of Poweradd is specified with an output of 14 watts, this is a very theoretical value. At 5 volts (USB voltage) it is noisy specifications able to deliver a maximum charging current of 2.16 A, so this represents only 10.8 Watt! However, this is sufficient for most USB devices.
As the manufacturer is eligible to the 14 watts is at a second voltage specification of 7.2V, which is also in a position, the device is supposed to deliver - as this value is achieved with a USB device, however, is a mystery to me.
Measured power:
Through a USB power meter, I was able to measure a voltage of 4.9 V and a maximum charging current of 1.65 A at Central European Spring midday sun - so this corresponds to 8 watts. Pretty neat I think! I am excited about what is to reach a value in the summer.
Pull temporarily individual clouds passing decreases the charge current to approximately 0.5 A. For complete cloud cover, the panel is unfortunately not be used for power-hungry devices, only a charging current of 0.1-0.2 A is reached and the voltage drops to up to 4.7 V. Here, however, cuts my old solar panel and are no better.
** Conclusion **
You get the 14W solar panel of Poweradd a powerful solar charger in transportable dimensions that its full line but can only play at full sunshine! Maximum so far I could measure 8 watts of power, this being probably in tropical countries at full midday sun is higher.
Overall I am very satisfied with this product that it is not to be used in heavy cloud cover are taken into account (except for devices with low power consumption such as USB watches) must, however.
