For this objective, there are many tests and subjective ratings on the Internet. For me personally it is not so much on the last degree angle distortion at the edges or the last bit of resolution at. What is much more important for me is the overall impression of the imaging performance. And that is exceptionally impressive. Vivid colors, good sharpness and constant brilliant overall impression. What impressed me also, is that the lens delivers consistently good results. One can already see from the scaled miniatures eg in Lightroom know immediately which pictures were taken with this lens. So it appears to be worth the money. I would buy it again. But panacea does not exist. Compromising for me are: the size and weight (limited maneuverability and roam the streets and relatively unnoticed to do street photography, hardly goes); high sensitivity to backlight (unsightly flare); Cropping by open aperture succeeds only partially. Compared with my other Nikkor lenses, it provides better image quality than the 50 / 1.8D and the 35 / 1.8G, but does not come close to the 85 / 1.8D.
