Device but good software makes problems

I have the logger "stalking" for our un-neutered cat put on me, in order to understand where he hangs out and where to look if required. This is the purpose of the device - and the (almost without Handyemfpang and example) even though we live very secluded, very good.

Since that has not worked, I've googled for a problem solution and came across the following information:

The license for the bundled software (with Google Maps) has expired.
While there is a new version (1.2.4.h5) but which does not accept the product key.
As a solution, I have chosen a "compromise":
Install both versions (in different directories).
Reading the logger with the old version, and save the project.
To open the project I use the new version

That's definitely awkward but it works.
Maybe the company is indeed correct for the foreseeable future the error times, so that the new version works with the Key.
