From the purchase of this product I have to dissuade massively. While the print and copy function works properly after a short installation on Vista, however, the scan function is a disaster and the cost in terms of the cartridge system is a pure insolence. The device is therefore by no means cheap. The drama begins with the installation of the bundled software: it takes full 35 minutes, produced four desktop icons (among other things without which today is finally no longer manages a direct link to HP Store ...) enforces auto-up Dates and penetrates the end user with prompts to register your product. Finally, a component still writes in the Autostart. (Of course, should HP Digital Imaging always running, I do not know how I am all these years without coming out ....) Some are probably thinking: So what? Nothing unusual for the installation of an external device. And finally you can as advanced users certainly perform a selective installation, disable auto-updates and the entry in the Startup and then everything works fine .... Normally this is so. In the present case, however, is not: After a lengthy Internet research finally succeeded to bring the scanner up and running. The software works despite repeated total uninstall, however limited. Even if the software would work, it does not allow direct creation of PDFs, let alone multi-page documents (who needs that already, one finally has now made the direct link on the desktop for HP Store ....). During my research on the Internet have also pointed encountered that I am not the only one with this problem (doubters I recommend even times "HP digital imaging for HP Photosmart C4480" to google, so is the software that comes without its installation the scanning feature does not work). Conclusion: does not work, a total of less functional, expensive cost, lousy support and software burdens the whole system. I am now switched to now on a Cannon device and am hereby significantly more satisfied.
