I use the burner mainly for data backups. Due to the amount of data div. Publications me sharing Directories in DVD-compatible sizes was eventually too stupid. My current laptop is however a bit dated and has no USB 3 interface and no eSata (the burner has a eSATA interface). So I was a bit skeptical about whether the burning of large directories over USB 2.0 is practicable and whether the burner next to Win 7 also works with Linux. Does both: About USB 2.0 to reach such as house number 1GB / minute. Ie on a 20GB Direktory he chews so around 20min rum - which is surprising fix for me, given the interface limits. Linux - I use SuSE 11.4 with k3b as burning program - the burner is easily recognized as a USB device - no driver installation - and produces flawless fires. I have not yet tried many types of blank discs - just Verbatim 6x single layer (25GB) and Sony 6x Single Layer (25GB). With regard to the quality of the burner of all manufacturers are probably sensitive data in backups. With double-layer Blu-ray discs and Lightscribe I have no experience yet. Not even with video files.
Conclusion: Super Easy recorder for class price. A tip for Linux users. One star deduction for the mundane manual and the lack of any operating instructions for Linux.
