With Blu Ray blanks are divided into two different physical recording method: HTL and LTH. The LTH process is still relatively new, but in the production significantly cheaper than the HTL process. These blanks are therefore cheaper. But there can be drives that can not cope with this type blank. In my Blu Ray burner from Panasonic, there were no problems during burning.
