Waiting for the Sun (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Especially with the albums of The Doors, it is imperative to look again on the musical box and arrange the plate in the overall social context. What in the case of "Waiting For The Sun" means: 1968 student revolts worldwide. Vietnam War escalated by the Tet Offensive. Martin Luther King and Robert Kennedy are assassinated. And and and.

In such turbulent times that seems to the sometimes difficult bulky masterpieces "The Doors" and "Strange Days" does not quite fit in the previous year in much of almost softened acting third album of the Americans, like from another planet look dreamily to himself meandering Songs like "Love Street", "Summer's Almost Gone", "Wintertime Love" or "Yes, The River Knows".

But this should not obscure the fact that there are on this album some downright mature legendary pieces of the quartet Morrison, Manzarek, Krieger and Densmore. "The Unknown Soldier" chasing the listener in its hard-hitting intensity the odd shiver down my spine, "Spanish Caravan" takes you along on the trip (amazing how much of life you can pack in just three minutes!). However, the remainder is anything other than filler. "Hello, I Love You" is a wonderfully direct cast in notation declaration of love, the meditative "My Wild Love" invites formally procession under the leadership of "Mr. Mojo Risin '" and "Five To One" is in his filthy obscenity just an earthy and snotty-drunk sung piece Blues, whose line of text "No One Here Gets Out Alive" after all, the most famous Morrison biography gave its name. Solely "We Could Be So Good Together" leaves me quite cold in his indecision.

Certainly can not keep up with his two predecessors "Waiting For The Sun", although it contains one or the other discovery, just when a little longer deals with the 33 minutes of music. Mag you some songs, the former alcohol and drug escapades Morrisons
listen more than clear how wrote the "American Poet" perhaps the strongest song on the album, "Not To Touch The Earth"?
