An interesting book about the fragility of memory and the reconstruction required to regain its identity through otherness. Four episodes punctuate life here the narrator-character, allowing it to rebuild gradually. Memory becomes, by this book a correlate of history evoked in the story. The memories and ghosts of the Holocaust loom over the peregrinations of a narrator hungry découvertes.Les discoveries which reduce the enigmatic of being -as he refers to étant- pass through his family and his relatives.
The intrusion photographs relegates this need to show the ephemeral memory. Thus, photographs fill these cognitive links faded and allow re-member. This, through a real memory "passed out" and Príncipe of forclusion- resurfaced at the sight of the photograph or, through "mere artificial constructions" caused in relation to the photographs that fill the vacuum past the narrator.
