For Paul Weller I would put my hand in the fire. The Modfather supplies in constant regularity from excellent albums. Even his latest studio album, "Illumination" is no exception. On the contrary, the production is not as overloaded as still in "Heliocentric", the song selection is more homogeneous and straighter, the harmony and the Soul predominate. Thus Weller creates an intensity that does not let go until the very end the handset. Whether it is the moderate "Leafty Mysteries" with Who-bonds, the sweaty-rocking "Call Me No. 5" with Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones as a duet partner, the sentimental "Who Brings Joy" or the soulful "Standing Out In The Universe "Weller clarified acts than ever before, and presents his most mature work. And he is even politically: in "A Bullet for Everyone" he chalks the Blair-Bush Connection. Conclusion: "Illumination" is the best Weller album since "Wildwood".
