Serj Tankian proves with "Elect The Dead", however, that he is quite capable of delivering a very good album without SOAD, especially as it has evolved vocally. He growls and screams not as one would expect at SOAD albums, also has his voice sometimes a touch Tenor what is new and unfamiliar, but very good sound.
The lyrics are also here politically motivated and socially critical, but in a different way as with his band. It's hard to explain, it is best to hear it for yourself.
Many go into a song (System Of A Down embossed) ear, particularly the decoupled as a single "Empty Walls". On the whole, but there is no track on the CD, which could be described as a really weak.
Musically, the studio band moves in the wake of System Of A Down, which can be as already mentioned critical look, but honestly: Why should something be bad suddenly, what inspired people for 5 studio albums fans? (Personal opinion: all shout at once "stagnation" when they hear something familiar, but when an artist experimenting, it is most then not right, right?)
For artwork the Limited Edition is to say that the idea to make the envelope as a book, is not exactly new, but in "Elect The Dead" is very nice to look at. This "book" one finds the lyrics specially written poems by Serj, and pictures of artist friends of the singer.
Conclusion: "Elect The Dead" is not a System Of A Down plagiarism, but a very well-crafted rock plate for fans of SOAD is a must not only enthusiastically special friends also good rock music.
Buy CD, listen, form their own opinions, find still cool. ;-)
