I have not tested it with comparable ultra zoom, but compared with the following lenses: the Canon 28-135 zoom 1: 3.5-5.6 IS and 70-300 1: 4-5.6 IS, as well as the SIGMA wide angle zoom 17-35 1: 2.8-4 EX.
