POLAR Accessories Heart Rate Monitor Heart Rate Monitor Set H6 (equipment)

Customer Review

I use the heart rate belt now for two weeks almost daily and am very happy with it. The pulse values seem to agree and the sensor works without dropouts - perfectly so far. However, I will certainly extend this further review once I've subjected the sensor a longer trial period.

Right now I want to give just a little information on, which I myself have searched in vain on the side, but they are important for the purchase.

Compare H6 and H7:
--------------------

+ The H6 sensor is newer than the H7.
+ He was smaller and shallower built so that it is barely visible under clothing still.
+ Works perfectly with iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 (with others, I could not even test it
+ You can change the battery itself (which also comes with H7)
+ The sensor can be separated from the belt, so you can also wash the elastic band. (Also valid for both sensors)

- H6 is designed for smart phones, so that the pulse is transmitted only on your mobile phone, but not on the device at the gym or at a heart rate monitor. That's probably the only essential difference, and - if one so wishes - disadvantage of the H6 sensor

However, I use no heart rate monitor, because my running apps offer everything also can offer the heart rate monitor. Added to this is that a good heart rate monitor is a lot more expensive than the pulse belt in Verbindnung with Laufapp. To me it is not important that my pulse is not transferred to the treadmill because I hear music while running anyway and so get my pulse permanently announced. Who, however, it can not do without, should select the sensor H7, but must take into account a larger sensor.

Polar Beat App:
----------------

+ The pulse value is in this app clearly in the foreground. One can during exercise permanent watch in what heart rate zone you are in and gets on the end of an information on the training and successes.
+ The calories are more accurately calculated than with other apps, because unlike runtastic only where size, weight and time count, Polar operates when calculating the pulse.

- Unfortunately, the GPS function is not as good as with runtastic. I always run simultaneously with both apps and so I do not have often noticed that Polar Beat App often lose the signal, but not a warning. In the worst case I was missing at a run a whole kilometer, which was recorded with runtastic however.

Otherwise, the app can all the other running apps. I've been using for example runtastic and Polar Beat parallel because one gives me accurate calorie information and better pulse evaluation, the other a more accurate GPS tracking my route. So who carries his cell phone anyway during sports with them, can really save the money for a heart rate monitor :)

One more thing: The belt is available in two sizes: XS - S and M-XXL This in no way reflect the dress size resist! The strap S is only for JMD. With a chest circumference of max. Thought 65 cm !!! (Ie more likely for children ?!) O_o

--- UPDATE --- POLAR BEAT APP vs. Runtastic ----

Meanwhile I use the strap and the app for seven weeks, and now has to revise a few things. During this period, Polar Beat app has been revised and that brings both advantages and disadvantages.

Firstly I have to say that the GPS function in both Polar Beat and at runtastic work exactly the same. It can since my review no defaults, but it lost runtastic one or two times the signal. Thus, both have equally often had their little problems. But what is not seen since at least. 4 weeks! Thus it seems clear to me that the GPS function in both is equally good.

Since the update can be manually resent much in Polar Beat. Pulse rates, kilometers etc. This is particularly important that run on the treadmill for those! If runtastic can also subsequently all but can only edit online. Must be so designed as not necessarily negative for runtastic.

However Why Polar Beat, the opportunity before the race is to choose the "treadmill". This GPS function is turned off and saves battery and nerves. Why? Well, at runtastic there is this option still does not (can the treadmill only in retrospect enter online) what causes me the app permanently so annoying that she has lost the GPS signal and then found again - what in enclosed spaces very often the case! This is a clear point for Polar Beat

The calorie soft in apps greatly from one another, with runtastic usually too little shows. Sometimes there are even 100 kcal too little. The reason is that runtastic calculates the consumption due to the personal data and the distance and speed. Since Polar Beat is a lot more accurate. Consumption at Polar Beat results from the personal data and the pulse. Thus the consumption is tailored to the person exercising. Another point for Polar Beat!

But now we come to a great weakness, which will hopefully be fixed soon! Since the update it always comes back to the fact that Polar Beat can not connect to the pulse belt. I have already contacted me on Polar and received a reply that one should not use in conjunction with other apps that measure the pulse, the App. What I do not but one thing before! I want to use my two or more programs simultaneously and do not see it that me Polar forbids. Therefore, I am working with a few tricks. Firstly, you should always first start Polar Beat! Since latest I solve the connection directly after running (under Settings -> pair sensor etc.) and connect the heart rate belt every time when I need to. And should all fail, to one the phone off and on again (this was the tip of the Arctic;) what I have so far not yet used, luckily!
