James Blake (New Version) (Audio CD)

Customer Review

Long, long I waited before I decided to buy this work, read a lot of reviews and this often includes sound bites sample. Yes easily makes it one of the great James Blake not with his musical outpourings. Idiosyncratic, electronic electric elements, computer distorted voice, repeatedly classical piano sounds and quite unusual noise, which are the main ingredients of this album. Somehow James Blake of these things to create a fascinating and interesting music. The individual elements and sounds often seem contradictory, actually do not match. In fact, some of the sound noise would be so simply inaudible for themselves. But the combination of the individual elements creates a music that is idiosyncratic and captivating at the same time. The melodies can not be mistaken and dull listening experience this is simply never. On the contrary, you already need a few tries to get it to capture only the approach at all.

Of course this is no music that can be found in the mass media and also for the way listening to this work is in any way. And again, as so often, you have to engage in it (like). For lovers of exceptional music and electronic sounds in its purest form, this will probably be in this case, no problem.

Then real gems like LIMIT TO YOUR LOVE, which is introduced by classical piano sounds and a remarkably clear and catchy melody opens. Then the electronic beats a rumble just so around the ears, alternating with the piano creates a horny point that you get no more out of his head.

Even the somewhat dreamy THE WILHELM SCREAM is an undisputed highlight. Here the quiet electronic soundscape and the dreamlike melody is crossed by electric faraway noises, which at first little noticeable increases the finale of the song until the actual music is drowned out.

Some of the songs could almost pass as a capella pieces, so minimal they are stocked with accompanying sounds. But is so simple it then not, because especially here was vastly worked on the voices, and so conjures up the computer from so many voice an electronic sound experience. Here stands out particularly Lindisfarne, which consists in the first part only of electronic song and only in the second part (separate track) gets the distinctive electronic elements to it. So the song is impressively demonstrated the bandwidth of the album.

Also almost classical acting titles that do only with piano accompaniment here hiding between the noise clutter. A Case of You is a fine and quiet piano ballad, confident in the James Blake with his good voice.

Wonderfully charming and caught charmed the soundscape at WE MIGHT FEEL UNSOUND. Almost the song has something extraterrestrial and is pure Hörfaszination. Simply mega strong.

Another highlight I will mention, NOT LONG NOW. The song makes an eerie transformation through, begins as a sinister and disturbing ballad turns into sensitive and relaxing music with a correspondingly spherical sounds. For the finale he gets again a new sound robe and sounds striking and wummernd, a sort of trance-piece.

All other items are good and want to be discovered. Simply this is as mentioned not, but stay tuned worthwhile. Again and again builds James Blake also small breaks in his music a, moments (tiny), where simply nothing happens. Small resting places middle of a song. This is also almost become a kind of trademark.

A little disturbs the Spartan featuring CD. The two silver discs are housed in a simple folding cardboard cover. There is no booklet, only a few sparse information about the individual songs are printed on the inside of the clamshell packaging. Even a reasonable picture of the artist in vain. In the main issue here but to the music, and because of the fascinating listening experience there's a full 5 stars from me.
