The EPSON XP-710 is really a very compact design, the smallest ever multifunction device that I had. Also looks very chic, with the piano black of course immediately leaves fingerprints while touching.
The device offers three ways to Paper Feed: Front, there are two paper trays, one for up to A4-size plain paper (~ 100 sheets) and the other for up to 13x18 cm photo paper (~ 20 sheets) is intended (!). Previously never a sheet is jammed or was skewed that works so well, even with 280 g / m² photo board. Back of the device is then a cut sheet feeder, for example. For an envelope. But it can be really only equipped with a single sheet.
When printing the front output tray and the display will automatically go motorized and unlike the XP-x50 models also automatically back inside at least the output tray. The display must be folded manually re-pity.
Otherwise, the XP-710 prints incredibly fast: A 10x15 photo for example is finished in the highest quality in just 15 seconds, and 10 also looks fantastic.. Great colors, sharp crack and so finely dissolved that they can not detect any rough points. Also impressive is the scanner up to 2400 dpi for me. I printed out a photo, and then scanned in the highest quality back to get it to print again the result was identical to the scanned photo. Even weak colors and fine lines are detected by the scanner while he also works very quickly, especially when scanning text documents the machine races away.
The copying or photo printing is of course even without a PC. Operation via the touch screen is easy. Photos can differ from the card reader (SD / MS) or stick to print (directly from the camera with PictBridge), and even a CD-printing is possible. In the latter case, the CD / DVD is simply placed on the scanning pad and the XP-710 is positioned correctly on all the printable blank. Scans can incidentally be saved directly to a memory card or flash drive.
Even for operation without a PC: EPSON offers a free iPrint app for Android smartphones or iPhones. At first I was skeptical as to whether you need something, but I have tested. Better to have such an app can not make the ink levels or printhead cleaning up to photo printing or scanning documents everything from mobile phones to use. Photos can be rotated on the phone, and increases the quality of the set pressure on the Print button puts the unit immediately off. One can also scan a document, which was then displayed directly in the phone and can be stored as a PDF. This one always all settings (resolution, color, paper size, etc.) are available - well done!
To use iPrint, the printer must of course be integrated via WLAN in the network. This works quite well so far, but I had to find when you enter the network key on the touch panel that not all signs such. B. $ or § available. So if those characters are used in his network key must change it before or can use the WPS function if the router has the happy you.
The cloud capabilities, z. B. Scan and save in a Webcloud, I have not tested, because I think the cloud fuss for bullshit.
In many places, you realize that EPSON has made thoughts with the device, so the template for CDs / DVDs can be eg. The front of the appliance store, one is reminded of a forgotten document on the scanning pad or leaves the back of the unit to open if it once but is a paper jam.
Up to now the printer is not noticed by unnecessary cleaning orgies, which is why I am very confident about the ink coverage. Although I've printed a lot of testing, the supplied original cartridge (4.5 ml) are still about 90% full, the printer seems so very efficiently handle the ink. Expensive the replacement is nevertheless: The small cartridge with 4.5 ml costs about 11, - Euro and the XL cartridges with 9.7 mL even 18, - Euro. For a complete replacement of all five cartridges therefore comes as quite a princely sum together, which is why I recommend alternative cartridges, but not any cheap dirt. In druckerzubehoer.de there 16ml cartridges for about 8, - Euro (white packaging). These I use for years for my Canon printer and has always been well satisfied with the quality (apparently no difference to the originals).

==> CONCLUSION:
That's how I imagine a modern printer before among many functions it offers high quality and speed. At the space-saving housing or eg. The removable back for paper jams can be seen that the manufacturer has given some thought. The printer is really fun, because everything works fine and surprised. By being able to purchase alternative cartridges a favorable and hopefully durable unit can I fully recommend.
PS: Who needs a fax function, can also draw on XP-810.
