PROS:
- Have overwhelm as you can see how some current, jerky PS3 title console generation or simply an inappropriate render engine - Runs superfluid (60FPS).
- Control with controller works surprisingly well and makes really fun.
- It looks fantastic in many levels (yes I know, there are now, of course, games with better graphics ...). I like the many "artificial" and plastically acting Graphic Style in Doom. 3
- Very successful, and often underestimated sound backdrop. Weapon sounds of shotgun and MP were revised luckily (but a bit too quiet).
- There are in each map many hidden corners and dark corners that you can explore. So is not only totally hose level as many "modern" games.
- More ammunition than the original. One no longer needs to browse for the gun safes in the emails the PDA for access codes. I think it's good.
- Save is still possible at any point.
- The ability to use the same flashlight and weapon I personally find useful and good. Horror atmosphere is thus still enough available.
- Old-school standard (brainless) shoot through secret labs, research facilities of the UAC and hell until the doctor comes.
- With the Chaingun shoot, which comes just as noisily as in Doom 1, just sets the mood. But the other weapons shred ...
- Wonderfully plate story - with the still successful scientist "Dr. scammers".
- Successful cut scenes, especially just a few. The flow of the game is not constantly interrupted them.
- German language edition is largely well managed, that there are much worse examples.
- It must be recognized that here was something cribbed especially when (genius!) Dead Space.
- Finally back Medi-packs collect (!).
CONS:
- The PDA is (still) almost unnecessary and the operation annoying. The videos are very interesssant. Tip: use Hardly - also works without.
- Only 720p (standard HD resolution).
- Who super-crisp remastered HD textures is expected probably disappointed (... always a bit tricky in just 512MB shared memory of the PS3 ...).
- The weapon sounds of their own weapon are a bit too quiet, in contrast to the often noisy weapons Sounds of opponents.
- Sound of the gun is still lousy, but the later you need really good as ever again ...
- Sometimes, especially in the first level, the German voice output is often too loud.
- Checkpoint Save solved bumpy, save at all is solved in other games technically better.
I hope my listing would help in one way or another purchase. Would like to say that I can live very well with the CONS, that for me are the points that are not really worthy to be or to which you get used to quickly. I guess reviews that have under rate this game set too high expectations in the graphical makeover or are too spoiled by the professionalism of the narrative and representation of some more modern titles and feel challenged here.
Who but Doom / Quake fan is standing on flawless Ol'skool science fiction action, and satisfied with a bit old Come, nevertheless fancy graphics is should access. I think especially the buttery smooth frame rate of Doom 3 BFG Console makes a lot of ...
