When I first released their first album "Home" heard I was blown away ... and after the concert beginning of the last decade in the Hamburg "Fabrik" a fortiori. Also "Cewbeagappic" and "Closer" I found really great. Absolute buy recommendation on my part. Great wife, great voice, rousing music paired with ideas and musicianship. First disillusionment in 2010 with the album "At Welding Bridge" wide. Personally, I thought it was quite boring, what now - is clearly topped by "Cricklewood Broadway" - in my opinion. Too Bad.
With the word minimalism can also rewrite poverty of ideas and development does not mean necessarily positive. In a nutshell: "Song for Irie" I rather like, and that's about it.
Conclusion: I would be delighted if Beate Lech in the future again reflects on what she and her band really can. A madness voice with jazz and ingenious base elements to mate to (mostly) danceable rhythms. Then I would be happy again.
