The Best of Van Morrison Vol. 1 (Audio CD)

Customer Review

"Van the Man" is an institution: With "Them", the Irish response to the Stones, he celebrated the end of the 60 initial success. In the 70s, 80s and 90s he was the only really recognized white soul singer, playing Irish folk music and conjured beautiful ballads like "Have I told you lately" (Yes, that's by Rod Steward in the original by him).
He has always been a music artist. So it seems difficult to provide a best-of album together. But it has succeeded. The spectrum ranges from Them hits ("Gloria") over jazzy mid-tempo tracks ("Moondance"), rousing Soul ("Wild Night") to dreamy ballads ("Wonderful Remark").
Of course it is hard to make it real fans right who have already chosen their favorite stations on the many albums. But for diehard Morrison enthusiasts the best of is also not thought of. Rather for people who want to have a good cross-section of the work of a great artist. And that succeeds to 1990 (Year of the CD) perfectly!
