Dramaturgy:
The game relies heavily on a dramatic narrative. You start in the prologue right at the end of the game. In a flashforward you experience the anticipated final rudimentary. As early as the staging is here clear that Battlefield 3 takes no prisoners. The graphics and sound design are excellent. After five minutes of brief prologue has been completed and one is eight hours earlier in an interrogation room. Here is the interface that connects all the other missions. In flashbacks we experience the story of Blackburn. The soldier tells his story, where you take on his role and that of his allies. This is one of CoD Black Ops familiar. And not only here can be Battlefield 3 clearly inspired the competitors.
Parallels'
Who Battlefield 3 plays, which is many a time have an Oh-What experience, if he remembers past CoD title. The initial setting in Iraq is strongly reminiscent of the beginning of MW2, the overall story seems at Black Ops copied, the storm-like run the train at the beginning reminded me a bit of the Miles High Club from MW and the Mission as a wingman in Jet reminded of the scandal Mission MW, in which one wears down also white dots by bombardment from above.
Now you can think what you want about Batman, but in presenting the series could be very rarely hold against what. So why not a little bit abgucken? But unfortunately, Battlefield 3 also has cribbed some negative aspects. Partly fierce violence (just in QuickTime Events) and unreflective comments in the flight mission ('Good Kill') mitigate the game at least for me.
and differences:
But Battlefield 3 course also has some differences from the previous CoD titles that make the game for me a little gambling cheaper. Here on the one hand would be the more tactical game modes mentioned. In Battlefield you put not much away (at least hard). Opponents accurately target and they take a under barrage. This you have to venture very careful as a player. The friendly AI has a fantastic happy to have before without any enemy in his sights. Some enemies are hiding and then shoot one from behind. Battlefield is a lesson for the old shooter wisdom 'Check your Corners'. The whole can Battlefield some tactical work than previous Batman parts. And I feel very beneficial to non-existent (to discreetly existing) patriotism in Battlefield, the disappointed me in Batman again. The war is not glorified here and he is not glorified. It does not heroes, but soldiers.
Successful Ideas:
Battlefield 3 does summarize something right. The presentation is stunning. The nice narrative brings variety and links the individual missions make sense. The graphics are among the best of what there is to date for the box and the sound comes really well on a surround sound system. Even the background music acts always consistent and drives the atmosphere with. The game is also fully playable in English. The gameplay is super liquid, control goes well and accurately by hand. The opponents are clever, the players in the back drop, requiring at most places only a little skill, in some places but real maneuvering.
Poor versions:
Less successful I find the following points. It is clear that Battlefield 3 not BFBC 3, but still I have no role models. I liked the bad society in which I was at BFBC always. Something missing Battlefield 3. Well still better to have no role model as a patriotic super elite soldier who fights for the only equitable country in the world against pure evil. The ally AI is sometimes annoying. If one is directly behind the cover, because you will be under fire, it can sometimes happen that an ally would take the cover and the player squeezes. This has already cost me several screen life, because I was suddenly next to the cover. There are also (rare) places where come Endlosspawns of opponents.
The bottom line for all those who did not want to read the full text:
Pro:
- Presentation
- Dramaturgy
- Graphics bomb
- Sound bomb
- Fully playable in English
- Gameplay is extremely liquid
- Clever opponents
- Tactical approach
Cons:
- No humorously quirky people (I miss the Sarge)
- Ally AI is sometimes more hindrance than help
- Sometimes annoying Endlosspawns
+++++++++++++++++ Multiplayer +++++++++++++++++
The campaign is all well and good. But Battlefield and CoD carry their actual combat so from online. Here one can only congratulate Battlefield 3. It picks up where BFBC 2 has ceased. A good level system and extensive maps, which offer real opportunities for all classes, but make camp almost impossible. I personal prefer playing to Capture mode, which is why I am especially on the cards go well. And they are managed across the board. It shows the Ribbons, medals, dogtags and vehicles. In addition, there are unlockable items related to level available. Unfortunately, this has the bitter aftertaste that pro gamers (which I do not count) have not only the skill advantage, but also the better weapons. That frustrated some. There is no Spawn Protection, which may annoy some, if anyone thinks that he must not take the enemy base, but rather spawn camping. But for those players (they are by now quite rare) there are, thank God, the negative feedback, so that they are not as fast looks again.
Conclusion:
What remains now? A truly successful adult game that has a well-presented campaign (I just 8 hours on hard hand) and an excellent, tactical multiplayer features.
Update: In a thread I've read that the HD Texturepack can not be installed on a 4GB hard drive. It has only a size of 1.5 GB, but since the 4GB memory is recognized as apparently internal memory rather than hard disk, there are apparently problems. The only info for those who are concerned.
PS: I had some problems with the game (of a technical nature). But since I'm the only one known case of so far, I have not let it flow into the rating. Here still a link to the topic I created. I had the problem that the campaign after the update did not start. So fall you, dear reader, have the same problem, then look here:
