Evangelion (Audio CD)

Customer Review

After Nile with "Ithyphallic" In 2007, were delivering a more marbled album, Behemoth could still save with "The Apostasy" the year. Stylistic improvements were made at the time hardly. However, the production seemed even more mature, every riff and every smallest crash stop sitting exactly in the right place. Everything was well thought out and perfectly composed. The - and of course the cameo Dane Warrels of Nevermore - were the things that "The Apostasy" helped to Dauerrotieren in my player. Behemoth that can write good songs, was already clear.

True to the motto "after the publication is before the publication", the question arose, what was coming. What would be able to "Evangelion" significantly different from its predecessors? The published in advance via Myspace song "Ov Fire And The Void" gave first indications. Representing the album Poles have therefore selected a mid-tempo, which has it all. Absolutely one of the best songs from the last four albums, you can say so - ingenious riffs, orchestral soundtrack and designed not to overcharge. These Nergal incomparably powerful vocal work. The big question was only whether the rest of the material would have grown this expectation generated.

The answer: yes partly, partly no. Designed rather faster pace, is "Evangelion" with "Daimonos" and "Shehamforash" two great numbers before "Ov Fire And The Void". Clear offer nothing new, however, show that Behemoth have lost none of their aggression and are still able to create a rousing atmosphere that at times really created goosebumps. The conclusion of "Shehamforash" with his Mitbrüll potential is really succeeded.

But already "Beyond Realms Ov Amenti Transmigrating" shows that the death metal gods for the Polish Zeus Nergal in Olympus of extreme destruction spraying some boredom. With all experienced brutality is fed controls here again on a single-end, but remembering to repetitive and structurally to "Shehamforash". As would have been possible.

"He Who Breeds Pestilence" is with his move between extremely spartan used guitars and supported by Raven screeching sounds of nature likely to create tension - unfortunately without credibility. The female scary vocals rip the song does not get out.

And so it goes on, on the whole, to "Lucifer" the end of "Evangelion" decides. A song, which in turn provides good ideas with his Polish lyrics, but the music has got too shallow. One has the feeling, enough to hear him again. Pity!

Bottom line, I can agree with the opinion Furfighters only. Behemoth offer "stagnation at a high level", have little to no new ideas, apart from the artwork, and - what makes me especially sad - bored even in the one or other minute the already short geratenen long player. There remains only the hope that this year the Nile rowing rumreißen and deliver the hammer, the have to Nergal denied us the men.
