The new plant of Arcturus has with "Aspera Hiems Symfonia" much in common, such as Darkthrone with the new Metallica albums. "La Masquerade Infernale" can probably be described most accurately as an experimental artwork. After all, that this album is experimental and probably want to try out the urge of Acrturus times, has emerged, is most easily prove that I have never heard anything like it and the Norwegians thus risking a commercial kill. Whether art or not, everyone has to decide, but that this music is challenging itself, is beyond question. The sound is very difficult to beschreibem because every song has very own facets and different moods operated, all arising from a comparison of metal guitars and classical instruments like violin, viola and cello. The latter instruments were played by specially dedicated Philharmonic and sound by no means amateurish or fake. Singing I really have times called unique. The operatic vocals of Garm in the song "Master of Disguise" is absolutely incomparable. In "The Chaos Path" then listen to the voice of Simen which even the vokalistische virtuosity Garm exceeds and makes this particular song to a climax in the works of Arcturus. Mockingly-mocking and insanely IRR are probably quite adequate descriptions. In addition to such progressive pieces as just "The Chaos Path" at the end of a techno beat is even heard, there's "Ad Astra" still a very melancholy quasi-Intrumental, the pale so many self-proclaimed Dark Band with envy should be. The drumming, for which, incidentally, Hellhammer of Mayhem is responsible is very punchy, to the beginning of the song "Alone" once Black Metal moderately fast and recalls with a few guitar parts (towards the end of "Ad Astra") completely removed the Arcturus debut LP. Is framed this musical revelation of an absolutely fantastic layout that best comes to the record by the way advantage. With this album Arcturus are certainly some fans more than just scare, for bang-the-head-that-does-not-bang-types, it was probably not thought anyway. For all those who want something truly new and truly progressive hearing and are anyway against all styles digested, is "La Masquerade Infernale" probably the rarity on the market.
