THE death metal highlight 2012!

Deathhammer (Audio CD)

Customer Review

In times of rising metalcore wave this album is like a tower of strength and stands steadfastly out of it. Martin Van Drunen and his men have created with this album a real Death Hammer hitting in the face the whole new-fangled stuff in the middle. While so many other Death Metal bands are only a shadow of past days, there have the Dutch managed to perfect their sound and create songs of almost unbelievable intensity.

Already the first song fetzt going, relentlessly, mercilessly. "Into The Time Wastes" does not last long on with an intro. The music goes toward the center in a hot groove on, that sounds cool, that sounds casual.
Next is the title track of the album. And it's really a true "Deathhammer", because the flying around our ears. You can move only to nothing else. But this song sounds like an extended middle finger to all the deathcore bands. For me, the Death Metal anthem of 2012. madness.
Track no. 3 Finally the handbrake takes the pacing strongly, it will sound the doomy sound for which the band is famous. Painfully slow, the song "Minefield" drags there. Some getting used to for the two fleets numbers before, but not bad.
"Of Days When Blades Turned Blunt" finally rumbles again going merrily and can bob their heads. The focus is again depressed, and one hears the cool pool of Martin. Once.
There follows "the soldiers" that starts slowly but then changed repeatedly in a groovy rhythm. The finale of the song ends in a graceful guitar solo chasing a shiver down the spine.
"Reign Of The Brute" then fetzt but again straight away, with a smoking-hot guitar riff. It has been hard to catch time. The song is simple, however, brings the blood flowing.
Then heard "The Flood", and rarely have I heard such a cool, snotty song. The horny midtempo rhythm, and to Martin's singing, the vocals ... a hinrotzt One highlight among many on this disc.
The subsequent "We Doom You To Death" says it all. The song title says it all, and it is really almost gedoomt to death.
"Vespa crabro" finally rumbles again really took off, and leaves us in a short time of 2:50 min briefly experience all facets of the band, from the gallop to rocking groove.
Finally then heard yet "As The Magma Mammoth Rises", with menacing pounding rhythm, the sawing guitar riffs and Martin Van Drunen to singing, which seems to float above the soundscapes. Somehow reminds of Immortal, also end their last albums with true anthems. An absolute fist-in-the-air-stretch-song and worthy conclusion of a fantastic album.

The guys have done everything right. It is actually typical Death Metal as it has, however, long gone so much fun. The songs are mostly in a Uffta-rhythm, now and then interrupted by doomy, slow passages or songs. The Dutch never roll over though particularly in the pace, there are far faster bands. Asphyx but sweep with this hammer all the hyperspeed albums ruthless it. The album is fun, from the first until the last second. So far, the highlight of the publications of the year and one of the best death metal albums that there has been a long time.
