From the revolutionary Roulette ...

... Back in the Carnival of rusty life: Ins seedy theater (the fans it is rather striking: From Revolution Roulette to Carnival Of Rust Signs Of Life: Ins Twilight Theater).
Before I start to write about the album, I want to briefly say something about the other works of the band. Connecting I go closer look at the new album, on the song, which can be found on the CD.
Like many others, I came to this book about Max Payne 2 (Late Goodbye) and hear them since the publication of CoR and of course, was thrilled by the group. As RR then appeared, my expectations were high and was sadly disappointed. The album was / is good, but was not nearly as mature as the first 2. Some songs appeared lyrically and musically immature or unripe (eg Miss Impossible). Also I was expecting after some song titles very different songs, when I finally got (Best Ex. Save Me). Praise for the rock style gabs by the fans, but also great criticism for the lack of quiet songs (only 3 songs at Ings. 11 tracks). I was able to make friends at the end of the 3rd album.

But what about now with the latest work from? As my Vorrezensent has already written, go back to the roots. So you could say it's good, but the album is different from the other three.

First, to all the fans, the quiet songs like: you get more than enough. For fans of rock songs: You will be happy too.

What is also special about this album? Poets Of The Fall Carnival Of Rust said from that they play "Cinematic Rock", so cineatischen rock. In the RR hit a few songs (Revolution Roulette). The songs here, especially "War" and the last song "Heal My Wounds", are cineatische grenades, but for the individual songs more equal. The whole album sounds very cinematic and you can this CD (and their music) see as a personal soundtrack for your own life, what determines is also an object of our poets. Add to this that here everything sounds very round and perfect. So as you know it from the first two albums: Highest level.

Now I want to come to the songs. I'm going to call everyone and present my opinion on this well, in other words, whether it is good for me (because it is ultimately my opinion ;-)) or not, and of course what / why it is so for me.

1. Dreaming Wide Awake (4:23 Rockig): On each album, there are several features, namely a rocking opener, in this case, is the here. It's a very good song, which however does not quite fit the style of the album, because the personal touch by far the most lifts. Because I've heard him since release (February) quite often I feel the song almost as the weakest of the album. Nevertheless: The text is great, the music also, it's all true, although it sounds so different than the others and could possibly produce a different first impression.
By the way: The song had its origins in a radio show, where the singer was interviewed as a song is created.

2. Was (5:05, Rockig): The theme song for the upcoming thriller game "Alan Wake" from Remedy, the creators of Max Payne, who are friends with the band. This song is one of the absolute top titles of the album. Unique thoroughly with phenomenal Lyrics and instruments. The song you can actually see as a dark counterpart to "All The Way / 4U" from 2nd Album. Reason: As in ATW / 4U the song begins quietly and draws in the last third of clear and still sets a purely transitional. My conclusion: Incredibly well, perfectly composed cinematically. TOP²!
Info: This song will be single No.2 and hopefully we can look forward to read when it says, "I came through Alan Wake to this band."

3. Change (4:45, Soft): For me, frankly the weakest song (in relation to this album, it should be noted indeed the star that I gave the album). The song comes to me mostly a bit monotonous in front when it comes to the instruments. The song has no real highlights. Vocally there are any, a solo, as each song is also included, only it still lacks that little finishing touch to this song. Even at the best an idea of ​​the song make. I like him, but others I like more. But that is not because that this song is less cineatisch.
Side note: This song has been around since 1991 in its basic form.

4. 15 Min Flame (5:00 Rockig): This song has 2 cutting, where the good is the most dominant. On the one hand the song is absolutely awesome, super electric guitars, very cineatisch, class text, length is fine, a Top Marko (singer). The weakness of the song is its text, I'm talking about the quantity. I think the song could do with more text, or it could be reduced to 4:30. At the end is a little too many times as the end of the song "Late Goodbye", just not as often. Conclusion: class, with a little weakness. Regt but to sing along.

5. Given and Denied (4:17, Soft): How "was" one of the best songs, such as the poets have ever created. The song has a very special aura. The text in conjunction with the instruments can empathize and immerse one with the vocals. Close your eyes and enjoy. This song is perfect. There is nothing you should change to this song. A fortiori that, as so often present, cinematic guitar solo. Conclusion: The total madness. A feast for the ears and soul.

6. Rewind (4:22, Soft): Even though I have "War" and "Given and Denied" so highly praised, this is my favorite song of the album. The song begins quietly, full concentration on Markos distinctive voice and from 1:40 on the song only 1 transition high, the song does very well. There is a good mood song, you want to hear over and over again (in fact exactly what the word "Rewind" means). You know what I find so well: The overall package and everything is included. The slightly cinematic touch, the lyrics, the sit and the music. What can I say? I love this song since the first listen. Really great.
Ahja: The song was supposed to appear on Carnival Of Rust. Why it did not happen, I do not know.

7. Dying to Live (3:46, Rockig): A song, also you very much want to move and simply consistent is. One can compare this song with good "Overboard", but he is very particular and I like it very much. The text is good, though less poetic than the others, but it fits. And if that and everything else fits, so why then complain? The only drawback: Why does this energetic song be so short?

8. You're Still Here (3:27, Soft): When I heard the song for the first time, my ears focused on. Reason: The song is the quietest of all Poets of the Fall songs and beautiful. One could on the track set on the couch and enjoy, or with your partner / dance in a little waltz, or a similarly quiet dance. The song is unique and my little tip for people who like it quiet, although he's quiet as a change and no highlights has, the song is smooth and just fun and creates a harmonious feeling. If this song would be very cinematic, it would stand out negatively. That would be inconsistent with the kind of songs. The only drawback is the length.

9. Smoke and Mirrors (5:17, Rockig): Also a best songs on the album. In addition to "War" and "Heal My Wounds" of cineatischste song. Lyrically the song is somewhat reminiscent of Revolution Roulette (the song), which he aimed at life and people who have too much money and exploit others. This song is rocking, but restrained rock. Not as much as Dreaming Wide Awake or Dying to Live. Here it is the goal of one to bring the text in more detail, and this has, based on the theme, in itself. Perhaps I will be the well simply smuggled through the horny sau voice of Marko's ear. The solo at the end is great too. Super song, which is pretty long. I have nothing to complain about: class!

10. Heal My Wounds (5:55, Soft): Similar to the openers is the epilogue of each POTF album something very special: It's a quiet song, accompanied by piano music, with a sad, penetrating and very emotional voice connected, singing a text that has no equal. Previously, "Where Do We Draw The Line" my Lieblingsepilog, then came "Sleep" and most recently "Dawn", but now Heal My Wounds is my new number. 1, although the song is making a small break in style, of this song but good does! The piano is true throughout the process is also accompanied by other instruments. Among other things, a discreet restraining electric guitar and an instrument that I do not know. This extension of the epilogue opens a whole musical pores. It makes the song grow and act fantastically beautiful but also sad. It is known that the album after the song is, this song shows it more clearly and as the credits of a film that gets under your skin. This is something I've never heard of. An indescribable song that seems light orchestral though and complete. No better way to make one last song in my opinion.

Total running time of the album: 46:21 (just 2 minutes shorter than CoR)

Conclusion: I give this album 5 stars because it lets RR far behind and can easily get involved in the league the first two Albem. For me this album is better than CoR and actually as good as Sol. The style has become a little changed as in each album and also makes this new facility unique. The uniqueness comes from the cinematic that this album as advances in the foreground. In addition, the quality is really outstanding and should be, sometimes consulted by listeners who previously did not have much with this band on his hat.
I tip my hat to the band, because they have shown me that it can still precisely as good as at the beginning of Operation: Poetic texts to make super music merge into a unique work of art with.
