1. HAPPY
Already at the beginning of the album suggests Marina with the piano ballad Happy gentle tones to. Lyrically absolutely succeeded, the songwriter qualities Marinas were already to be admired on the previous albums - but this is much more striking her great voice. A minimalist song, a beautiful melody, a great text and sung with heart. (9/10)
2. Froot
The title track of the album. Admittedly, at the beginning a little getting used to, and also the position within the album is a bit dodgy, but includes a quickie directly to the rather quiet happy. But develops in repeated listening to an interesting and well-successful titles.
Now, after six months, still a great song with great catchy potential. I particularly like that he stands out sharply from earlier songs. (8/10)
3. I'M A RUIN
In my opinion one of the highlights of the album. Brilliant voice and a melody is very catchy and stays there. Has great hit potential and induced to sing loud. If yes (thank goodness!) Published in advance as Froot OF THE MONTH. (10/10)
4. BLUE
Reminded me when first hearing especially in the verses a little on the album The Family Jewels, while the Bridge ("Gimme love, gimme dreams, gimme a good self esteem") brings back memories of the Electra Heart era. Overall a nice song, which stimulates especially in the chorus to sing along. (8/10)
5. FORGET
Another highlight of the album. The text is absolutely brilliant time again and thought-provoking, but without becoming a tedious and melancholy song. Personally I like very well. Especially the middle part of the song stands out for me. (10/10)
6. GOLD
In gold me an opinion falls in the moment a little difficult because I'm torn between "Genial!" and "Well ..". Probably need some time to hineinzufinden. On the one hand I find the song a bit monotonous and he simply splashes a little out at the same time gave me the chorus a persistent earworm. Who knows, maybe I can inspire even more frequent after this hearing, at the moment, however, remains one of the weaker songs on the album. (7/10)
7. CAN NOT PIN ME DOWN
This song is characterized by its slightly rougher voice and their self-confidence. Needed some time to me to be sympathetic, now I listen to it, however, very happy. (9/10)
8. SOLITAIRE
For me, unfortunately, the low point of the album. Although the lyrics are as always awesome, the sound but I do not like. I like the filter (what you call it?), Who seems to have been placed over their voice, not very, her voice sounds unfortunately no longer as clear as the other songs. However, a matter of taste, probably the song is me simply not catchy enough. (4/10)
9. BETTER THAN THAT
Wow. Strong song, while also a bit darker. Hard-hitting text, as you are used to it from Marina.
One of my favorite songs on the album. (10/10)
10. WEEDS
A beautiful song, which is a little quieter again and somehow like a mixture of I'm A Happy ruin and sounds, but not quite as fast as the former and not quite as slowly as the latter, just a halfway house.
Like super to me, but is also a bit monotonous. (8/10)
11. SAVAGES
Lyrically the song is an absolute grenade. Marina was known so previously. Already for their socially critical lyrics, but this song stands the whole thing to a whole new level The ugly and sad truth, packaged in an interesting melody gives this song, which prompts enormously to think. Especially the line "I'm not afraid of God, I am afraid of you" says it all. While not quite as catchy as other songs on the album, but again a lot deeper.
An absolute masterpiece, which undoubtedly is the best song of the album for me. (10/10)
12. IMMORTAL
The end of the album is heralded with similar calm tones as has started the album. Sets the chorus something to pace, without, however, lay the charm and carried along feelings. An incredibly touching song and a worthy finale, which once again brings out the best from the album and stimulates the whole disc equal to listen again. (10/10)
Again my Anspieltipps summarized:
- I'm A Ruin
- Forget
- Better Than That
- Savages
- Immortals
Overall a nice body of work that proves once again what a gifted and far too little attention artist Marina And The Diamonds. Strong buy recommendation! (103/120)
